As for Jimi Hendrix, I know it to be Maui, where he last knew peace. A little less than two months later,  Jimi would be gone. So, Maui is very special to me.

July 4th 1970 Jimi, Mitch and I were lighting our own fireworks on stage at the Atlanta International Pop Festival over the 4th of July Holiday. The crowd was bigger than Woodstock.

To look at him, you would never know it but Jimi Hendrix could put some food away. This would be Jimi’s kind of gig: music & a food fest. It wouldn’t get any better than that for my friend. It will be the concert in Maui that Jimi, Mitch & I gave a performance of a lifetime.

A well-known secret, the Gypsys were formed to get Jimi out of contract trouble. The added bonus was the three of us loved being musicians, our instruments and enjoyed each other.

I was told by a very RELIABLE SOURCE that The Band Of Gypsys had not been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame because they were seen as too political.

Hmmm, is that the real reason?
