Brief notes on my personal experience and from what I saw earlier players' runs: fun, sharp Irish dialogue, aesthetic flair, interactive environments (you can also hit things and stop to take in the scenery).
It's real, it's tangible. They've been cooking.

@Urban_GTA_6 Honestly, I wonder if anyone has a compilation of all the GTA4/GTA5 fakes, the GTA6 fake compilation has gotta be exponentially bigger with AI.
@hyxkkimxru Ah, I see, Cuphead got funding through ID@XBOX. Not too far-fetched to include it then in the thumbnail - accelerator programs are incredibly common and fund the games' appearances at showcases, and development.
So "self-funded?" No. But very few games are. I say... play 'em all

Mixtape had Annapurna/Tara Bruno PR double-teaming the press, no mystery how they got 9s & 10s fast.
Expedition 33 had GYLD represent them as their agent prior to landing a deal with Kepler.

@Shadows_of_Hedg@hyxkkimxru Agree with this too. Saying "indie" to some is like saying "niche". Which breeds resentment, people "not being [x] enough", etc. Just play the games.
