A disturbing video circulating on social media appears to show Kuki residents being singled out during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 exercise in #Manipur.
The right to be included in the electoral roll, subject to due process and lawful verification, cannot be influenced by ethnic identity, community affiliation, or public pressure.Electoral exercises must be conducted impartially and in accordance with the law for every eligible citizen.
The Election Commission of India @ECISVEEP to immediately investigate the incident, clarify the role of the individuals involved, and ensure that no community is unfairly targeted or excluded from the electoral process.
At a time when Manipur continues to face deep social divisions, the Election Commission @ECISVEEP must act firmly to preserve public confidence in the integrity, neutrality, and fairness of the electoral system.
Democracy cannot function when citizens fear discrimination in the exercise of their constitutional rights.

The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) expresses its profound sorrow over the tragic killing of Mr. Chunjanglung Panmei and extends its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. No family should have to endure such a painful and irreparable loss.
At the same time,KIM strongly condemns the highly irresponsible and biased reporting by Northeast Live @NELiveTV which hastily attributed the incident to “Kuki militants” without presenting any evidence, official confirmation, or credible verification.
The incident occurred in the Pongringlon area, where there is neither a Kuki settlement nor any Kuki presence.
In such circumstances, linking an entire community to a criminal act without substantiation is not only unprofessional but also deeply damaging.
Such reporting fuels misunderstanding, reinforces ethnic prejudices, and further aggravates the already fragile situation in Manipur.
KIM notes with serious concern what appears to be a recurring pattern of premature conclusions and community-based allegations in certain sections of the media. Journalism carries a responsibility to inform the public accurately, fairly, and responsibly.Speculation and unverified ethnic attribution have no place in professional reporting.

"Manipur needs truth and accountability, not propaganda." 🚨 Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has released an official statement strongly condemning irresponsible reporting by Northeast Live regarding the tragic killing of Mr. Chunjanglung Panmei. KIM notes that the incident occurred in Pongringlon—an area with no Kuki settlement—and warns that unsubstantiated "ethnic labelling" only deepens divisions in the region.

#Women in Manipur have been suffering. 248 crimes against women only in 2022 and the conflict in 2023 had increased this alot especially for #Kuki women
Described by the Supreme Court as “systemic and unprecedented.” the conflict of #Manipur has been neglected by authorities.
They were given a stern warning before hand by the CO of the Assam Rifles @official_dgar. Even though the Tangkhul mobs cried foul play by the AR later. They were the one carrying out an illegal road block, obstructing the Assam Rifles's movement carrying out its lawful duty.
It is obvious, the unruly mob wouldn't have this much courage of obstructing the paramilitary forces if they are not instigated and supported by the secessionist NSCN-IM who are in nature, anti-Indian.

This map shows a section of the present-day Kamjong district in a 1944 survey map. You notice Kuki and Tangkhul areas alternating. Kamjong was not a village then, just a rest house. But Chassad was a village, a Kuki village. So were Humine and Molvailup. All these villages with the exception of Chassad have been evicted by the Nagas after the Indian independence.
I recently learnt that Grihang was also a Kuki village. It apparently got evicted in the 1960s. Then MLA (now CM) Khemchand Singh went to visit it in December last year, to greet the GPRN's[*] governor of the Tangkhul region. He also stopped in Litan and Chassad along the way. Evidently GPRN's blessings were necessary for his bid to become the CM.
To the south of there, you see the village of Choro, which was also a Kuki village. Called Choro Khullen in 1991, it had a population of 221 in the census. It got evicted during that decade. The Tangkhuls took it over and renamed it Zingshophai Choro. (I don't know what the point is. Zingshophai is as much a Kuki name as Choro is.)
Not being satisfied with the hilltop location there, they moved the village wholesale to the Burmese side of the border, claiming that that land was their "ancestral land". KNA-Burma apparently burned a part of the village recently. Then they complained that KNA-B carried out a "cross-border attack". KNA-B denied that they crossed the border. They really didn't. You did, dear Tangkhuls!
Dr. Lorho S. Pfoze, the former Naga MP, says in an interview to the Hindustan Times, that the Kukis "attack vulnerable areas" and "expand their territories". So, all these Kukis, who have been driven out of the Ukhrul district and reduced to 5% of the population, are going to attack the remaining 90% Nagas? Whom are you kidding, Dr. Lorho?
[*] GPRN stands for the Government of the People's Republic of Nagalim. It is a parellel government that the Nagas run within their inhabited areas. Yes, it is against the Indian constitution. But this is Manipur!
Manipur: Fierce confrontation took place today (7 June 2026) between @official_dgar and NSCN-IM/Tangkhul women as Tangkhuls are opposed to the stationing of AR at New Heaven which’s a corridor for NSCN-IM to attack Kuki villages like Yaolen etc. Tangkhuls are secessionists 🚨

If we need to be reminded, the conflict in Manipur started on 3rd May,the day when the tribals in Manipur (tribals means Kukis and Manipur Nagas)held a mass rally together opposing the recognition of the Meitei community for the Schedule Tribe Status.
Soon after the rally ended, tension escalated and in a span of an hour or two,the Kukis in Imphal were chased out of their homes, brutally beaten,r@ped,killed in a cold-blooded manner and their houses burnt to ashes.
Why do the Meiteis only attacked the Kukis and not the Nagas if the rally was held by both Kukis and Nagas together?
And after thousands became homeless and helpless,no single condemnation in the form of PR or whatsoever was released from the Nagas side. Why? Didn't they participate in the rally?
Didn't they opposed the ST recognition for the Meiteis?
Only the Kukis were single out, suffering the consequences of the actions of both Kukis and Nagas.
Fast forward today, after three long whole years of our suffering, the Manipur nagas sided with the Meiteis,so the two community has the upper hand in every state affairs, state jobs, economy, media,
what you see in the media is what they wanted you to see.
Considering all these scenarios, after we are left with nothing,do we still need to go about killing our own people and burning our very own villages? Any sane person would actually laugh off with that narrative.
Atleast stop attacking us and killing us. Why so much hatred and jealousy still left for the Kuki even after the worst we have been through??
