📢 I am advertising a PhD project on using #citizenscience as a tool for enhancing human-nature connectedness & pro-environmental behaviour. Collaboration w/ @Earthwatch_Eur#TinyForest programme. Short deadline - Oct 26th, January 2025 start. Email me! https://t.co/YTLjjmyc84
Check out our new paper. We found that walking dogs off the lead greatly increases habitat disturbance in UK lowland heathlands @SarahKPapworth@BaobabJ@RHULBioSci@_RHResearch https://t.co/AwTmyd098C
Best way to start the day! Small mammal trapping in the sunshine with @RHULBioSci students on our Practical Field Ecology module. 7 wood mice caught and couldn’t resist taking a pic of one of our many bee orchids on my way to start the lecture! #LivingCampus
Looking for a fully funded (UK-students only) PhD in conservation zoology/ecology? Come join @BeckyMicrocebus's and my lab at @RHULBioSci to work on #NatureRecovery in collaboration with @SurreyWT. https://t.co/5KHXdvwMlI

📢Are you looking for an ecology/zoology PhD project and do you love 🌳, 🐛,🐜,🐦 and citizen science? Then this might be a project for you! Exciting opportunity to work with me, @BeckyMicrocebus and @Earthwatch_Eur on #TinyForest research programme. https://t.co/3cUMpYYbYl
Great opportunity to join our department as a Teaching Fellow in Vertebrate Biology and Ecology to teach modules in Animal Physiology, Marine Ecology and Conservation Science to BSc students. Closing date - April 22nd 2024 https://t.co/CeJFfcrGx8
Our first event is Sunday 21st Jan and is focusing on mammal and winter tree ID. If you’re a @RoyalHolloway student or @RHULBioSoc member then get in touch for a discount code.
All money generated will be donated to the local recording groups.
@RHULBioSci have teamed up with @SurreyWT + @RHULBioSoc + loads of amazing local wildlife recording groups, to run ‘Wild Recorders’.
A series of training events to help people develop their species identification and recording skills. More info here: https://t.co/swj3zmtuZM
That time of the year again when trees @RoyalHolloway campus are teeming with plasticine caterpillars. Something tells me predation experiments by @BeckyMicrocebus ecology class are underway 😉 🐛 🐦
If you are a current @London_NERC_DTP student choosing a PhD project or you are planning to apply to this DTP for next year's entry, have a look at projects I offer @RHULBioSci in collaboration with @KratinaLab and @wakehurst_kew

@KorichevaLab@RoyalHolloway They have been spotted quite a bit this year, from people and the birds and mammals! The students have definitely been enjoying this set of practicals though 🐛 🌳
@MajaIlicZg@KorichevaLab Yes! In the first part, they compare red and green caterpillar predation, and in part 2 they develop their own hypothesis. Some groups are testing predation of caterpillars on native vs non-native trees and others are looking at caterpillar size (and many other questions!).
A new Teaching & Learning Case Study by @BeckyMicrocebus@RHULBioSci, @RHCareers & @RHUL_elearning/ @RHUL_ITservices: The creation and integration of an e-portfolio into the curriculum to help students identify, track, and reflect on skills development https://t.co/7QqU9L2U7w
Did a little recce of Staines Moor ahead of @RHULBioSci field ecology practical with @BeckyMicrocebus next week. Everything is clad in yellow (buttercups and flag irises) and white (hawthorn) apart from yellow meadow ant mounds, which stand out in red (sorrel). Beautiful!

Such excitement with the workshops at our Youth Action for Nature event with @SurreyWT today. Lots of joy at finding newts, sowing wildlife seeds and creating blue hearts despite the rain! @RHULBioSci
