Join us on July 8th at the University of Sheffield for our first UKAN+ underwater acoustics data challenge day!
It's a 'hackathon' style event, developing ideas to solve key underwater acoustics challenges from industry and academia.

Looking forward to hosting the next @acoustics_ac_uk@sigunderwater webinar! We'll be hearing about underwater noise modelling and passive acoustic monitoring from industrial and governance perspectives.
The next Underwater Acoustics webinar is on 24th February at 2pm. Presenting are:
Rasmus Pedersen: Practical Underwater Noise Modelling for the Offshore Industry
Monika Kosecka: The Potential of Passive Acoustic Monitoring in Fish Studies

@Jimbo_Rand @Miele_GB A couple of years ago the @Miele_GB dishwasher that served my family 20-odd years finally gave up on me. I had hoped to repair it myself, but eventually resorted to calling in the professionals. Ended up replacing it with another Miele and crossing fingers it lasts 20+ years too!
Join us for tomorrow's UKAN+ Underwater Acoustics SIG webinar at 2pm, on the theme of underwater acoustic transducers. More information and registration at

@powellds This is going to blow your mind: If you're using Windows 10/11, you can use clipboard history. Put 'Clipboard Settings' into the search bar, turn on 'Clipboard History' and then you can Ctrl+C multiple times, and Win+V lets you choose which Ctrl+C to paste!
♥️ your podcasts btw
Just moved the last of my data off the @BathHPC Balena system before its impending retirement. It has served us well! I have been trying out the new @Azure cloud-based system this week and it seems great... I just hope I am this positive once the billing system is implemented!
Join us this Thursday @ 2pm for the @acoustics_ac_uk@sigunderwater monthly webinar! We're talking ocean observation using acoustics, gliders, signal processing and its implementation on FPGAs.
UKAN+ Underwater Acoustics Monthly Webinars are back! On Thursday 30th September at 2-3pm, we'll be discussing signal processing for underwater acoustic monitoring from low-power platforms e.g. gliders. More info at https://t.co/43rD8vwb7y

TLDR: New paper alert!
Available from IEEE Journal of Oceanic Engineering https://t.co/vSAXCQQ8W1
And open access version from @researchgate https://t.co/iqfo04pbSg
Good news! 🥳 My latest paper with @DrAlanHunter is now available at https://t.co/vSAXCQQ8W1
We describe and mitigate three sources of along-track micronavigation bias for synthetic aperture sonar (SAS) systems, enabling improved navigation of autonomous underwater vehicles. 👇
These developments represent an important step towards fusing micronavigation estimates into autonomous underwater vehicle navigation systems, which will enable higher accuracy underwater navigation, allowing longer underwater transits and improved geolocation of seafloor images.
