The Reign of Style Hair Show and Competition, created by Aisha Ellis-Asim, brought together some of the region’s most talented barbers, hairstylists, makeup artists, and creatives for a high-energy showcase of artistry and skill. Now in its 12th year, the event continues to create a platform where both students and seasoned professionals can step on stage and show off their craft.
While covering the event for Back2Besa, Besa Gordon got to see the creativity up close, connect with vendors like Blessed and Thankful and Platinum Plush Fashions, and even meet viewers who watch the show.
Catch the full Reign of Style segment on Back2Besa, airing Saturday at 8PM on FOX 13 Seattle, with replays Sunday at 10AM and 8PM on FOX 13+, or stream anytime on the FOX Local app.
This week on Back2Besa, we’re centering our youth. Our young people are carrying a lot right now — grief, uncertainty, pressure — and yet, they’re still showing up. For their schools. For their futures. For themselves.
In this episode, we spend time at Garfield and Rainier Beach High Schools, listening to students, families, and educators, honoring lives lost to gun violence, spotlighting mental health resources, celebrating college opportunities at the Black College Expo, and ending with a moment of joy and pride as Rainier Beach opens the doors to their new campus.
This isn’t just a show — it’s a reminder that our youth deserve to be heard, protected, and supported every step of the way.
Tune in to Back2Besa 📺
