Chiedza Nyanjowa, aged 15, from Cheshire, passed away after getting into difficulties while swimming at Formby beach on bank holiday Monday. 🕊️
Emergency services were called to the scene off Albert Road on Bank Holiday Monday following what they described as "concerns raised about the safety of a girl".
The 15-year-old's death comes after 12 other water-related fatalities in the UK during the ongoing heatwave.
This fundraiser is just getting started, and sharing helps so much in the early days. These women helped support the NHS and now, after decades of service, they need a new minibus to stay connected and cared for. Even if you can't donate, a quick share can help it reach people who may be able to support. https://t.co/xSJnobqWUK

George Floyd's death shook the world.
Protests in every country. A promise of change for all.
But 6 years later — what has actually changed?
Just last week in Dublin, Ireland Yves Sakila met his death under similar restraint from security guards.
George Floyd’s family says ‘Not enough has changed’. His aunt Angela Harrelson said it best:
"When we get to the point where we don't have to say the words Black Lives Matter — that's when we know we have arrived."

Have no doubt: the campaign to sack Misan Harriman is part of an assault on black figures in public life. We are all expected to take note, for fear of equally stepping out of line.
My piece in today's Guardian https://t.co/ElG6VzGkXA
The scurrilous campaign against Misan Harriman is still in full swing. Hounded for stating a factual truth which did not fit the media narrative. I stand with Misan.

Toni Morrison was never just an American writer.
Her work challenged the world to confront memory, race, silence and power — and continues to shape conversations far beyond the United States.
A powerful reflection on why Morrison still matters today.

Some books entertain. Others force a nation to look in the mirror.
From The Interesting Narrative of Olaudah Equiano to Natives by Akala, these powerful works challenged Britain’s understanding of race, empire, identity and belonging — and changed the conversation forever.

Horrifying to watch the gleeful violence inflicted on Global Sumud Flotilla activists at the behest of Israel's National Security minister.
It's not enough to condemn & sanction him.
We must impose sanctions on this government and stop arming it.
Remembering TYRONE DOWNIE — one of the most influential keyboardists in the history of reggae music, a quiet genius whose elegant playing, melodic sensitivity,& deep musical intuition helped shape the golden sound of Bob Marley & The Wailers and countless other Jamaican classics.
