South Africa has declared its abstention from the adoption of the African Charter on Family, Sovereignty and Values at the 4th Inter-Parliamentary Conference in Accra.
The delegation says the Charter’s definition of marriage as solely between a man and a woman is inconsistent with its Constitution and international legal principles.
The position was announced by delegation head Zandile Majozi during deliberations.

@SilentlySirs If the United States and the West truly care about the people of Iran and are genuinely concerned about their situation, why don’t they lift all the sanctions so that the Iranian people can at least experience some relief and peace?
In an ever-evolving world, ethics remain the cornerstone of trust and accountability.
As GIPF commemorated 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 under the theme “Ethics Re-envisioned,” we proudly introduced our new Whistleblower Platform, a safe, confidential, and transparent channel empowering employees and stakeholders to speak up without fear.
We were honoured to be joined by the Right Honourable Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare, @ngurare, and Advocate Bience Gawanas, @BienceG, whose insightful reflections reinforced our shared commitment to ethical governance and nation-building.

Congratulations to new Nobel Peace Prize laureate María Corina Machado for her courageous struggle to bring democracy to Venezuela. It should inspire those engaged in similar struggles around the world - and remind those of us lucky enough to live in America that we have a solemn responsibility to constantly preserve and defend our own hard-won democratic traditions.
@GwenLister1@NBCDigitalNews Has Miss Namibia pageant become a national treasure? It should have remained in private hands as is the case in many countries.
@GwenLister1 Gwen indeed he was to the best of my knowledge a servant of his people. We were comrades and students in the UK sharing platforms to mobilise support for our struggles. His passion was industrial relations and labour. RIP my comrade and friend
@DrRHatchett@AureliaFNguyen@CEPIvaccines@gavi Congratulations my dearest Aurelia. Moving up and onwards. Are you still going to be in Geneva. Time for a catch up. Will be in Geneva in October
@aishapandor You have a mum to be rightfully proud of. I admire her cool headedness, intellect and clear articulation of issues. I had the opportunity to collaborate with her when she was Minister of Science and Technology and as Minister of International Relations. She served with humility.
Another horrific hate crime following the homophobic outburst last year in Namibia. It's an election year: political parties, what do you have to say, after you advocated and supported homophobia in the National Assembly?
Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor states that the South Africans serving in the IOF will be prosecuted. A number of soldiers have been identified and cases have been lodged. The South African government are not required to be "Pro-Palestine" to prosecute these mercenaries. It only requires upholding the law.
