unlocked the feeling of wanting to improve my life everyday instead of only at 3AM in a manic episode now i payed my debts, do yoga regularly, eat clean and stopped smoking nicotine and weed
@vampirepoem my 3 tweets in defense of something obvious is not an analysis do you know what a literary analysis is and what about using this symbolism for different modes is offensive let me know
“Vampirism is not always an allegory for queerness, especially if it focuses on black and non white characters. It’s usually an allegory for themes like exploitation and SA. Not everything is centered on Europeans!”
“SO YOU HATE GAY PEOPLE?!!”
@kissinopal read literature like a professor teaches kids it’s okay to use metaphors over and over again too but i read that almost 10 years ago you can actually just google it and find 100s https://t.co/AcpT4XDgqn
@DestheDreamer_ this is a great fact thank you but if you could happen to explain to me how this pertains to me saying othering strangers + gender exploitation + queerness + addiction can all be vampire narratives at the same i’d appreciate it a lot because i am just a little confused here
@RevolverJerm what does that have to do with my point about the modern usage of the allegorical vampirism in fiction being valid for different narratives and that it’s queer too
the person you are QRT is not wrong queerness is a fundamental part of gothic literature and vampires have been frequently used to represent the fear of those who do not conform to societal norms wether it be their cultural, religion, or sexuality did you not read Dracula perhaps
no clue how you ended up here because i used vampirism as a vehicle for ADDICTION + being othered culturally as my main argument in defense of using it as an allegory for anything because using a vampire in a story does not trivialize its origins idk why you would think that tbh
this is correct thank you but no one can explain how this has absolutely anything to do with why people should not reuse the vehicle of an allegory for a different tenor and how is that offensive towards it’s original inception like (very respectfully): how
because usage changes over time is why they can say it’s a vehicle to explore exploitation for example and their statement does not trivialize it’s antisemitic origins which everybody can agree on so why so much grief over vampires being queer it’s all the same thing: an allegory
