The viral version got four things wrong.

The drainer has zero rows on Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon and BNB. It stopped on 8 Sep at 20:54 UTC. The median wallet lost $26, not hundreds. And the 252 ETH still hasn't moved.

On 7 September a wallet with no history started emptying dormant Ethereum wallets.

It ran for 31 hours and cleaned out 2,442 of them.

We went looking for what those wallets had in common.

277 of the 557 wallets that ever paid LootBot on chain are in the set. Half the customer base.

The wallets share a birthday.

In June 2023, six of them had been funded. In July, 608 were.

We ran the same test on wallets already known to be LootBot's. Same wall in the summer of 2023, same decay through 2024. The paying ones peak a month later, which is the order you get when the wallet is made first and the fee paid after.

LootBot's own docs say it stores user private keys.

In 17 days it reached 1,280,036 wallets, run from about seven accounts. The fees came to 69.6 ripple:native. Roughly $96.

You swap $50. The pool charges you nothing, exactly as advertised.

A contract bolted to that pool then takes about 1% on the way out.

Your trade record never mentions it.

We measured it across 94,053 transactions.

What hooks cost you beyond the fee:

afterSwap adds a median 40,075 gas, roughly a third again on top of the swap itself.

beforeSwap refuses 1.17% of trades outright. A pool with liquidity that simply says no. There is no equivalent in v2 or v3.
