I asked Mayor Bottoms her take on Gov. Kemp calling her proposal to pause data center construction “insane.”

“We need to pause new construction on data centers to let us determine how we then need to proceed as a state. Kemp doubling down is true Kemp in his purest form. He tends to do that on things he’s wrong about,” Bottoms said.

“When I am elected governor of this state, we are going to keep the governor's business out of state business …
“Second, we will also require candidates for governor to divest from a controlling interest in companies doing business with the state.
“Number three, we will fully close the ‘Rick Jackson loophole’ by making sure state agencies cannot award no-bid contracts without explanation.
“Four, we will bring greater transparency by making it easier for Georgians to understand where their tax dollars are being spent.
“Five, we will put the process for how contracts are awarded online.
“Six, we will apply the Georgia Open Records Act to the General Assembly.”
