Its all about money. The TGA slow walked Novavax long after it was approved in the US the UK and the EU. So Novavax understood the message , cut the losses and withdrew the approval application. The Aus government pretended it is the companies thought because it was easier for them to say so. But if you follow the facts we know its 100% Aus government responsibility

This is quite disappointing that Novavax are running the combo flu and covid trials in Australia and the Aus government is not using the only vaccine that was tested on Australians.
The only reason is money. They have diminishing demand and it was cheaper and easier for Butler to cancel the contract with Novavax than cancel it with Pfizer/ Moderna.

You understand that all fibers of the wood are connected. Even the fibers that are not directly under the touching area are supporting the weight Read my new post. I explained in more intuitive way. Maybe you understand the question differently. Your pressure per square inch formula is good to understand local , compression of fibers right under the boy but the question is about elasticity of the entire log.

That’s a misleading figure. If its the same cut area the height of the circle log ( top to bottom) is larger than the height of the rectangle. The round has to be figured thicker. Anyway. In the circled log there is More material along the y axis that provides more strength against bending from the Y axis and it will bend less.
If you have bicycles look at the shape of the bars. They are rounded or elliptic to provide more force against bending .
