I had the singular honour of coordinating the eighth annual meeting of the Inter-Agency Coordination Group against Trafficking in Persons (ICAT) in New York.

The meeting brought together Principals from across the @UN system and beyond to strengthen our efforts against trafficking in persons.

We agreed on ICAT’s strategic direction, as well as the priorities and operational modalities for the period 2026-2030.

Grateful to @UNICEF and @OAS_official for co-chairing ICAT in 2026, and I look forward to working with the @OSCE and @UNHumanRights as incoming co-chairs in 2027.

Together, we reaffirmed our commitment to ICAT as a platform for collective action that prevents trafficking, that is victim-centered and prioritises the protection of the vulnerable, and that holds those responsible for this heinous crime accountable.
