The temperature's in double digits and that weird orange ball in the sky is doing its thing. Why not celebrate in the traditional manner and drop by your local independent bookshop and buy a stack of books as tall as you are?
On the very faint offchance they spot this HUGE thanks to the lovely folk who saw one of our card spinners topple, picked it up, put the cards back neatly in order and would've set off without a word like wandering maverick heroes had they not been spotted. Thank you, you're ace!
OH, WHAT A LOVELY DAY. But just assuming for a second that you're one of those eccentric types who doesn't absolutely adore cold unceasing torrential rain, you can order from us by phone or online and have lovely dry books (and records, just fyi) sent out to you!
Succulents. Penguins. Ballet. Owls. Art Deco. Freddie Mercury. London At Night. Ferrets Of The South West. The Impressionists. Classic Bikes. Goats In Trees. Adorable Dogs. George Michael. A Country Stroll. Only one of these is made up. IT'S 2025 CALENDAR TIME!!
Grey, cold Autumn days when all you want are book, blanket and spicy coffee abomination are almost here, but when one does actually arrive the last thing you want is to go out in it so BE PREPARED: It's freakishly hot today so come and get your cosy snuggle time books nownownow!
@SReadBooks Aw...I was there on Wednesday, sitting on that very wall having just bought a lovely folk horror anthology from you. First time I'd managed to visit your marvellous shop in person! โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ
Meant to be raining all day. Not a drop as yet so am giving in and erecting our usual mini-city of cards & books outside. Therefore in strict accordance with the laws of Mr. Sod it'll be raining in the next 5 mins or so, and I accept full responsibility for this imminent deluge.
Sometimes - like now, really - we need to be a bit needy and say "If you want your lovely local indie bookshop to survive please support us!" Times are tough for everyone, but next time you're after a new book would you consider giving us a whirl?. We're pretty great, promise!
Dappled sunlight through the window, saxophone led-jazz in the background, several thousand books patiently awaiting their readers. Could be time to bask in that only-slightly-stereotypical cosy bookshop vibe and come for a browse while it's nice and quiet. Your next book awaits!
Our neck of the woods is amazing - independent bookshops, record shops, toyshops, family run cafes, a load of Sunday markets... and if you love the idea of all these awesome things continuing to exist, please consider supporting them! They wouldn't be here without you...
Kay Burley's off air and Waterstones can't take card payments? Must...resist...urge...to...cackle..... Our card machines are up and running, our air conditioning is frankly amazing...things could be worse ๐
Hello, we are OPEN! We're also stuffed (shop not staff) with books of all kinds, lovely greetings cards and a resplendent collection of records, so we thought this might be a good time to remind everyone that we exist, and like all indie businesses, we need your support! โค๏ธ๐๐ผ
With vaguely panic-inducing, FOMO-promoting sale adverts shouting at us from every available digital orifice this weekend, please don't forget all the awesome, small local businesses out there offering all kinds of lovely, unique things! We thrive on your support ๐โค๏ธ๐โค๏ธ
Number one has to be @bookcase_london - I cannot tell you how much I love this shop! The staff are always wonderful, the selection is amazing and they have such good bargains! They also have a music section downstairs which is great, and their blind date with a book is fab!!
