I picked this up after loving one of the author's newer books & genuinely thought I was reading a different writer. Unlikable characters, endless repetition, and a plot that somehow managed to drag and make no sense at the same time.

I kept hoping there was a good story buried under all the sex, but sadly, there was not. Between a hero who treats “no” like a negotiation tactic & the constant use of the word "Bubbies" instead of breasts, this was not for me.

Life’s too short for books that make your eye twitch. Between vanishing/reappearing characters, baffling police procedure, & continuity errors piling up by the page, this was a hot mess I wasn’t willing to spend more time on.

@NoahRayWrites And even though she's my friend & I'm doing this as a favor, I still had her sign a sort of contract which states that AI won't be used on my end to edit her work & that I will also not discuss the details of her book with anyone.
@NoahRayWrites 1. How to tighten things up for flow, errors in descriptions, ways to make certain sentences really stand out.
2. Grammatical errors.
3. I am also her personal cheerleader pointing out sentences, descriptions, etc that have either made me laugh or that resonated with me.

Jenna finally shows some character growth (thankfully), and Parks gets more depth this time around, but these two still investigate cases like they forgot they’re not cops anymore.

Classic Boyett Sisters chaos: multiple storylines, slow-drip secrets, and Vera acting less like a consultant and more like a one-woman danger magnet (still no gun… why?). Messy, uneven, but I’ll admit, the ending did deliver some closure

Lost me before the prologue with that “if you don't like it pretend you didn't read” nonsense, & somehow it only got worse. Insufferable characters, zero realism, & a plot that completely spirals. By the end, I was just relieved it was over

Strong premise, weak payoff. Between the endless POV swaps, painfully obvious suspects, & a heroine making catastrophically bad decisions at every turn, this thriller never quite hooked me. That said… “the Widow” reveal did get me.

Strong start until nothing actually adds up. An unlikable MC, chaotic pacing, and a mystery that unravels a little too easily (thanks to a benefactor with unlimited money).
Confusing, frustrating, but I’m just curious enough to try book two

This had such a promising premise, then immediately fell into the same exhausting historical romance tropes. Endless drama, painfully naïve choices, and characters who I spent more time laughing at that rooting for.

I wanted to love this one, but the endless internal monologues, awkward “masquerade” where everyone somehow knows who everyone is, and one very questionable age-gap subplot completely took me out of it.

Fake courtship? Check. Two people obviously in love refusing to communicate for increasingly frustrating reasons? Also check. Cute moments saved this one from being a total miss, but I REALLY need this genre to find some new tricks.

To be fair, I read books & review them on my website so of course *my* number might be higher than someone else. Doesn't make them any *less* of a reader. It just means I have more time to dedicate to reading and I don't think there is anything wrong with that.
@httplec To clarify, I read books & review them on my website so of course *my* number might be higher than someone else. Doesn't make them any *less* of a reader. It just means I have more time to dedicate to reading and I don't think there is anything wrong with that.

Cute, clean, and surprisingly easy to read as a standalone, but the insta-love moved at lightning speed & the continuity errors had me doing mental gymnastics. Still curious enough to check out the earlier books, though.

Once a month, I share a mini TBR haul; six books I’ve personally added to my list. At the time of posting, all of them are FREE on Amazon (but please double-check before purchasing, because free never stays free for long).

All the ingredients are here, twists, tension, layered characters, but something just didn’t click. Between a very fixated portrayal of Chloe and some uneven character writing, I stayed intrigued… just never fully invested
