Bored Apes are still a thing in 2026. Shocking. Cartoon monkey jpegs outlived blockchains, protocols, launchpads, DAOs, and half the founders and KOLs shitting on them. It doesn't quite compete in the magic internet money ponzinomics anymore. Idk maybe that's the point. Yuga never pretended they were going to eat tradfi or trying to become the next hyperliquid. They got moisturized and stayed in their lane: a brand, a club, and a product almost nobody else has the balls or runway to try to attempt. People forget BAYC is a benchmark. Five years later, new collections still pitch themselves as "the next BAYC." It's become the category standard. CryptoPunks made pfps sacred. BAYC created an entire world with IP, merch, events, knockoffs, a token, and a world attached. Every collection since has been adopting parts of that template. Somehow it's still a flex, a team jersey, identity markers. It's also an ambitious multiyear swing at IP ownership and game economy disruptoors after the entire industry declared onchain worlds dead and moved on to perps and memecoins. Almost nobody with real brand gravity is still attempting this. Yuga has the runway and autistic vision to look ridiculous for a few extra years and still be the category leaders. Everyone's nostalgic for peak NFT mania but seems to forget the balance sheet that came from that era. The mint, the token, the froth... peak speculation is what paid for the long haul. BAYC was a financial instrument. God forbid the project cashed checks at the top and invested in something you can't short = a global brand and community. God forbid it converted cyclical attention into longterm equity. God forbid the cartoon monkeys were the smart money. So no, BAYC is not the hottest trade on the board right now. That's ok. It's the thing that's going to survive the board, outlive this cycle and probably the next. Yuga will probably stay liquid longer than the spectators stay mad. The cartoon monkeys became infrastructure for a culture, then a company. then products that will outlast most of the shit being shilled out here. They keep praying for the downfall of Apes. And yet... still a thing in 2026.
