A big thank you to the botanists we badgered for weeks. @naomibot gave us impeccable recon on where to see the best blooms, and @street_plants and @BotanicalBea were stellar and patient nature guides. Every day spent hiking around searching for wildflowers is a good day at work.
After a winter of showers ... spring flowers! The super bloom is back in California this year, and it's glorious. @byaliceli, @melinamara and I traveled the state to see this silver (er, rainbow?) lining of those atmospheric rivers. But ...

This was filmed in mid-Nov 2020, on conservation land protected by @SempervirensFnd⛰️ It’s been an experience (good and bad) seeing the forest change after the CZU fire 🍂☘️🌸🌿
We had an amazing screening of A Walk in the Woods @ChabotSpace on Friday! Thank you to everyone for stopping by, watching our film, and coloring with us. Special shout out to our guests @BotanicalBea & Ian Bornarth for an enlightening Q&A about preserving our #redwoods!

@CALFIRECZU Bats are one of the more fire-adapted groups of wildlife in the Sierra. Able to fly to escape the flames and will return to colonize burned areas later
“Tuttle argued in his inimitable way that bats are not dangerous but ‘really shy and winsome creatures who have just had bad press’. ‘Winsome’ is not a term often used by scientists, but then, not many scientists are called Merlin.”
(BAT, Tessa Laird, Ch. 3)
