him goodbye.

lambert couldn’t help the cocky but equally fond smile at the admittance that jaskier liked his tattoos .

truthfully , lambert had never cared about impressing people . in fact, many times he worked to actively piss people off rather than the opposite.

jaskier was an ——

was interrupted by a knock at the door, a hum leaving his throat.

“ must be the food, i’ll get it . “

he pressed a quick kiss to jaskier’s lips before getting up from the couch. god, he was just going to get the door and still felt compelled to kiss ——

he paused , clearing his throat and biting back a smile.

fuck , it had been a long time since he had been in a proper relationship, and admitting it was no easier.

“ we’re going out .

i guess you could call him my boyfriend . “

despite how lambert was properly absorbed in the presence of eskel’s new charge that wriggled around in his arms, he couldn’t quite help the instinctive glare of warning at anyone calling regina a monster .

“ hey , she’s had a rough life . .

i didn’t get her when ——

——

she was a puppy, y’know .

she’s gonna need some more time to adjust . “

plus , lambert liked how feisty she was . . it was certainly a good fit .

but he couldn’t pretend to be upset for that long , not when the subject of the conversation was jaskier.

“ yeah, we . . “

——

protect , you can’t go around saying shit like that, jask’ . “

[𝐖͟𝐇͟𝐈͟𝐒͟𝐊͟𝐄͟𝐘͟ ╱𝙍𝙄𝙑𝙀𝙍 .ᐟ @bottledbourbon]

lambert couldn’t help but keep up the affronted facade as his lover spoke, brows furrowed and a slight grimace pulling at his brims .

it was all part of the act, of course, because lambert had never been this happy. like jaskier was the last piece of the puzzle.

——

——

the comment coming out as a low whine .

it was followed up in stark contrast, by an uncontrolled chuckle at being called ‘ the sweetest guy jaskier had ever met ‘ , his arm squeezing around jaskier as a lighthearted warning.

“ shhh !

i have a reputation to ——

think i’d treat you right, gorgeous?”

[𝐖͟𝐇͟𝐈͟𝐒͟𝐊͟𝐄͟𝐘͟ ╱𝙍𝙄𝙑𝙀𝙍 .ᐟ @bottledbourbon]

if anyone had told him that the loud little twink that walked into his bar in search of a gig would end up stealing his heart, and treating him better than any of his past relationships . .

well , lambert would have burst into laughter back then.

because firstly , ——

even if he couldn’t quite help the infectious grin that rendered the feigned look of offense useless.

“ well, now i’m offended . “

he clarified , his tone clearly indicating he was joking for the sake of being insufferable again.

“ why such a long wait ?

didn’t ——

gaze half lidded .

“ ‘m pretty sure we can’t say we waited when we hooked up against a wall that early .

. . did things out of order , maybe . “

[𝐖͟𝐇͟𝐈͟𝐒͟𝐊͟𝐄͟𝐘͟ ╱𝙍𝙄𝙑𝙀𝙍 .ᐟ @bottledbourbon]

lambert never thought he’d have been able to trust someone like this again. when someone was as fiercely devoted as lambert was , almost to a fault, that was easily . . manipulated, easily tossed aside , never 𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘥 .

but the way jaskier looked at him . .

——

at jaskier with a quirked brow and a wide, teasing grin .

because while it was true it took them a hell of a while to get to where they were now . .

“ what 𝘸𝘢𝘪𝘵 ? “

he couldn’t stay away for long , because his face nuzzled against jaskier’s once again, dark ——
