Dat hoor je vaak over Bitcoin.

Maar 21 miljoen wat?
Schoenen?
Pizzadozen?
Ferrari’s?

Nee.
21 miljoen bitcoin.

Dat is het maximum dat ooit zal bestaan.
Geen commissie die dat kan aanpassen.
Geen centrale bank die “tijdelijk” bijdrukt.

Gewoon harde code.

En hier wordt het interessant.
Stel dat jij 20 jaar gewerkt hebt.
Risico genomen. Verantwoordelijkheid gedragen.
Kapitaal opgebouwd.

En dan merk je langzaam dat je euro elk jaar iets minder koopt.
Geen crash.
Geen alarmbel.
Wel… De duivel in vermomming.

Zijn naam? Inflatie.

Gewoon stille erosie van je hardverdiende centen.
3% inflatie lijkt onschuldig.

Tot je beseft dat je koopkracht op lange termijn bijna halveert.

Dat kun je geen crisis noemen.
Dat is potverdorie het gekozen beleid!

Bitcoin draait dat principe om.
Vast aanbod.
Elke 4 jaar halveert zelfs de nieuwe toevoer.
Geen knop om “print” te drukken.

Schaarste + stijgende vraag = prijsdruk omhoog.
Dat is basis-economie.

Maar hier komt het punt dat veel mensen missen:

Bitcoin is vandaag geen underground experiment meer.

• Er zijn spot-ETF’s gelanceerd
• Institutionele vermogensbeheerders bieden het aan
• Grote fondsen nemen het op in hun allocatiemodellen
• Zelfs bedrijven zetten het op hun balans

Niet als betaalmiddel in de supermarkt.
Maar als beleggingscategorie.
Digitale schaarste.

Dat is een fundamenteel verschil.
Betekent dat dat het risicoloos is?
Absoluut niet.

Maar het is ook geen niche-forum meer.
Het is een asset die stilaan in dezelfde discussie zit als goud.
Niet om alles te vervangen.
Wel als hedge.

Je zet misschien 3 à 5% van je vermogen in.
Als het mislukt, leef je verder.
Als monetair wantrouwen toeneemt, kan het disproportioneel beschermen.

En eerlijk?

Defensie heropbouwen is mijn grootste politieke levenswerk. Vandaag ben ik exact anderhalf jaar minister van Defensie. Wat een rollercoaster…

In die 18 maanden werkten we keihard aan deze heropbouw. Alles begint natuurlijk met een heldere visie. De Strategische Visie 2025-2034 werd in een recordtijd opgemaakt. De militaire programmeringswet volgde, net als het nationaal Verdedigingsplan. Parallel werd een historisch sociaal akkoord afgesloten. Militairen zullen terug echt naar waarde geschat worden.

De eerste resultaten van dit opus beginnen vorm te krijgen, op het terrein met veel meer militairen in bepalende operaties en met veel meer jongereninstroom. Defensie is hot en dat zien we elke dag bij de wervingen.

Maar ook dieper in de structuren bougeert het. Zo richtten we al 8 nieuwe eenheden op of herop en komen er nog twee cruciale aan: 1 Para in Diest en de 9de Wing in Ursel.

Naast het zuiver militaire, telt ook de industriële kant van het verhaal. En ook hier trek ik aan de kar. Jobs, jobs, jobs… moet deze historische heropbouw opleveren, ook in de privé.

En het allerbelangrijkste: onze militairen herwinnen hun eer en fierheid, van vrijwilliger tot generaal, ze staan terug messcherp. Ook dat zie en hoor ik elke dag. Weg met de demonen van het verleden.

Wheat exploded in price yesterday (limit up) after USDA forecast that over 8 million acres of HRW (Hard Red Wheat) will be abandoned in the Great Plains

That's 37% of planted acreage reported in the March Prospective Planting report, and means U.S. farmers this year will harvest their smallest wheat crop since 1972.

This comes on top of already record-low planted acreage heading into the season (lowest since 1919 in some metrics). Global supplies are tightening too.

Expect bread, pasta, baked goods, and processed foods to climb in the coming months — and pressure on livestock feed could push meat/dairy prices higher as well. This is another brick in the wall of rising food costs.
