The commander of AFRICOM, General Dagvin Anderson, revealed that U.S. intelligence enabled Spain to intercept a 35-ton shipment of cocaine from South America destined for West Africa, valued at approximately $1 billion, which Anderson described as "the largest seizure in history."

▶️ According to the general, there is a mutually beneficial relationship between South American cartels and West African terrorist groups: the terrorists facilitate drug trafficking in exchange for money, and that money flows back to the cartels in the Americas while also funding terrorist operations in Africa.

▶️ Anderson further noted that in the last 18 to 24 months, AFRICOM has alerted allied countries about drug trafficking activities and drug labs on their territories.

▶️ Of the 12 labs intercepted during that period, 11 had members of Mexican cartels among their operators, a fact Anderson cited as an indicator of the growing presence of Mexican organized crime in Africa.
