@tylergilfoster I'm looking at it more from like a reception standpoint. So many people point to Collette's performance as this landmark moment where people started taking horror seriously when GET OUT was actually nominated for and won awards a year earlier.
HEREDITARY frequently being upheld as a bellwether for horror being legitimized (or whatever) is odd considering GET OUT was released a year earlier and clearly had a bigger cultural impact.
Hey what was everyone’s shitty public domain copy of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD? Mine was this awful slim case I got out of the $5 at Walmart in like 5th grade
"Does Spielberg know the internet exists?"
I don't know, if only there was an entire scene where a character says he's just going to upload the files he's stolen but he's advised against it that might address this!
DISCLOSURE DAY is a plea for empathy, yes, but it's also longing for a world where humanity can share in a collective awe in a way it seems we can't anymore. And nobody is better suited than imagining that than Spielberg.
I can’t be the only person who has an abundance of movies in their collection that they have never actually seen.
Or is everybody normal and just buys movies that they actually watch?
WIDOW'S BAY is my favorite horror media of the year so far. Love how it's such a kaleidoscopic blend of different genre strains: folk, occult, ghost story, slasher, comedy, etc. Dripping in atmosphere and full of great characters. Check it out before next week's finale!
anyone trying to understand MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE underwhelming at the box office should probably start with the fact that the original movie flopped in 1987 too
