Driving through Fullerton this week I stumbled across this beauty! The property is obviously in need of some attention and care, and I would love to restore it. The detail and ornamentation is what makes Mission Revival architecture so special.
If Restored gets a new season in 2022, what do you think about expanding our work into other styles and parts of the country? Classic American architecture is often overlooked when people discuss home styles in California today, but here are two great examples in Santa Ana, CA.
My old neighborhood in Santa Ana is hosting a Holiday Home Tour where you can tour 4 historic homes decorated for the holidays, including my old home, the one that truly cemented my love of restoration. Find out more information about the event at https://t.co/ddzHb7Z3Ep
Remembering some great mural work with @johndouglasdesign at our Mission Revival restoration in Riverside, CA as I plan something new. #restoration @arch_salvage_pasadena #mission#california#design@diynetwork
Here is my Monday, putting together final details for the recreation of a vintage styled bathroom for a 1930 Mediterranean Revival that had been stripped of all its character over the past 100+ years. They weren’t afraid of color in the 1930’s and neither am I today!
@madslick99 Awesome doors! To store them, make sure that they are sitting on boards and not concrete to prevent any moisture coming up. Stack them vertically without a lean, and then strap them to a wall. If you store them at an angle, they will probably start to bow in the middle.
Studying at the Los Angeles Public Library in downtown is more than just an education in books. It’s really the whole experience of learning as a creative journey! If you haven’t been here, it’s definitely worth a visit! @hgtv@diynetwork@anniesloanhome
@LibrarianLM Definitely see the JK Smiley Library, University of Redlands campus, Kimberly Crest Estate and Gardens, and drive the neighborhoods on the south side of town. There is a lot to see. If you have time, make sure that you see the groves on the east side of town and Forest Falls.
Working in the Chevy Chase neighborhood of Glendale, I pass this home everyday, and I had to stop and share the experience. You may recognize the style of this 20th century modern masterpiece and it’s unique textile block material influenced by Mayan and Aztec architecture.
It might seem like overkill to use a backhoe to plant a small 15 gallon tree, but my tractor made the work easier this last weekend! Redlands has a very high clay content in our soil, hence the city name “Redlands” based on all our red clay soil.
