The need for greater cooperation amongst Christians in the face of today’s challenges - peace, the proper use of new technologies and care for creation - stems from the Gospel of Jesus Christ itself. Our responsibility for the life and dignity of every human being, especially the youngest and most needy, is the criterion that will determine our present and eternal destiny (Mt 25:31–46). #ChristianUnity

Today marks the anniversary of the publication of Caritas in Veritate, Pope Benedict XVI’s 2009 encyclical on integral human development.
At the heart of the encyclical is a profound claim: charity and truth belong together.
Charity without truth can become sentimentality. Truth without charity can become cold and abstract. But when charity is formed by truth, and truth is lived in charity, we begin to see what authentic human development really means.
For Benedict XVI, social action is never simply a matter of economics, policy or technical solutions, important though these are. It is also a matter of love, justice, solidarity and the truth of the human person.
In Caritas in Veritate, he reminds us that every person and every community is called to flourish in relation to God, to one another and to the whole created order. Development is not truly human unless it serves the whole person and every person.
For CSAN, this vision remains deeply important. Catholic social action is not only about responding to immediate need, but about building a society shaped by dignity, solidarity, the common good and love in truth.
“Charity in truth” is not an abstract phrase. It is a demanding invitation to serve with both compassion and clarity, and to work for a world in which every person can flourish.

Jesus says that no relationship nor worldly possessions and goals should ever have precedence over our relationship with God and the pursuit of holiness. Evaluate your priorities today. When they are in proper order, your life moves from chaos and distress to serenity and joy.
I wish to express my solidarity with our Venezuelan brothers and sisters affected by the recent earthquakes, which have caused numerous deaths and injuries, as well as extensive damage to property. Praying to the Lord for the eternal rest of the deceased, I renew my spiritual solidarity with their families, the injured, and all who have been shaken by this tragedy. I also wish to express my gratitude and encouragement to those generously working on search and rescue efforts and providing assistance.
According to the #GospelOfToday (Mt 10:37–42), those who hold on to their lives merely for themselves actually lose them, for they do not open themselves to the joy of love and thus become barren. This is why Jesus invites us to embrace the cross. He offered himself, lost himself, and in this very way we were enabled to receive his life in abundance.

These days have strengthened my hope. Not only because of what we shared, but because of the way we did so. In a time marked by polarization, even the way in which the Church listens and engages in dialogue becomes part of her proclamation. If we are able to continue seeking the will of the Lord together, allowing ourselves to be guided by the Holy Spirit, I am certain that our communion will become ever more fruitful for the mission of the Church and for service to the entire human family.
