What is the significance of being alive unto God? How does it help us in our pursuit of holiness? For one thing, it means we are united with Christ in all His power. It is certainly true we cannot live a holy life in our own strength. Christianity is not a do-it-yourself thing.
Our duty is found in the revealed will of God in the Scriptures. Our trust must be in the sovereign will of God as He works in the ordinary circumstances of our daily lives for our good and His glory.

"Not only has the debt of our sin been fully paid, there is no possibility of going into debt again. Jesus paid the debt of all our sins; past, present, and future. We don't have to start all over again and try to keep the slate clean. There is no more slate."

So-called sovereign nations of the world are not truly sovereign. They’re instruments in the hand of God to accomplish His will: sometimes to protect His people, sometimes to open doors for advancement of the gospel, sometimes to be His instrument of judgment against ungodliness.
The design of Christ's redemptive work goes beyond salvation from God's everlasting curse. Its purpose is to redeem us from sin to Himself, to be a people desiring to please Him.
Peter told us, "Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;” (1 Peter 1:18). Without Christ we lived in futility and emptiness.
