It's not to merely be "morally superior", but to actually do what's right.

Muslim kids are NOT obliged to wear it, and MANY DON'T wear it till they reach puberty. Those who do are copying their mothers, or getting used to it.

For women who do wear it, the primary function of wearing it is devotion to God.

@vult_dues Both are correct. You haven't understood the normative islamic scholarly opinion regarding the Qurʾān. The Qurʾān was revealed in different Aḥruf – which at times accommodated different meanings.

All of which come from God, as we believe. Therefore, both readings are from Him.

The orthodox Muslim position is that there are variants in recitations of the uthmanic codex that do produce variations in meanings.

This is LITERALLY the orthodox position. It's not a "gotcha" moment, when that's literally what we believe.

Had you read, you’d also know men are very strongly commanded to avert their gaze from women they’re not closely related to, whether those women are covered or uncovered. That is also their devotion to God.
