So grateful for the amazing team at @ivpress for our time together on Tuesday! It was a true blessing to witness the passion for Christ within each individual. Looking forward to the coming months!
Bruce Strom’s passion for Christ and pursuing justice is contagious!
We sat down with Bruce and his team from @AdminJustice to dream up possibilities for his forthcoming book, ‘Persevering Power: Encouragement for When You're Oppressed by Life.’
Don’t miss it. Out November 28!
I just finished a great book which is an @ivpress finalist for best justice book 2022 - Join the Resistance. Read my review and order your copy today. https://t.co/qwlLQIOaBv
How often do we focus on minor matters and neglect the opportunity to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God? Focus on the majors. Faithfully do justice with mercy and compassion.
“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness.” Matthew 23:23
My fear is that our divisions have further hurt the poor and needy and we dare not live like we are in Sodom. This was her sin: “She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy.” Ezek. 16:49. https://t.co/mTWfNUnskO.
“I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that his justice cannot sleep forever.” Thomas Jefferson.
I think many agree with Jefferson but for different reasons.
Who better to do this than a lawyer? And what better institution to support neighbors than the church? Let's come together for the rights of all who are destitute. @AdminJustice
Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.” Prov. 31:8.
If not you, then who? We have a responsibility to speak on behalf of vulnerable neighbors to powers that do not want to listen.
“Justice delayed is justice denied.” William Gladstone.
Making our neighbors wait months to see an attorney through traditional legal aid is wrong. Justice should be as available as the local Walgreens. It can be.
The pain of injustice stirs our souls. God hears your painful cries and shouts, “It is finished.” He bore your pain and continues to do so if you will let Him.
I was recently in Pisa. Justice seeks to straighten that which is crooked until the uneven ground shall become level and the rough places a plain. Isa. 40:3-5.
“Justice, and only justice, you shall follow, that you may live and inherit the land that the Lord your God is giving you.” Deut. 16:20
God provides a rich inheritance to those who understand and pursue justice. Seek the shalom of others so that justice accomplishes its work.
“Never mistake law for justice. Justice is an ideal, and law is a tool.” L. E. Modesitt, Jr.
Mr. Modesitt is a fantasy writer. But it is no fantasy to say the law is a tool to seek justice and that true justice is found not in systems but a Savior.
Rejoice with us that another church in Naperville, IL is opening its doors to provide legal help to neighbors in need!
River Glen Gospel Justice Center is open every 4th Saturday from 9-12 to greet and serve clients.
