Only one chance in this lifetime…
Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldn’t resist a cell phone video of Earthset. You can hear the shutter on the Nikon as @Astro_Christina is hammering away on 3-shot brackets and capturing those exceptional Earthset photos through the 400mm lens. @AstroVicGlover was in window 3 watching with @Astro_Jeremy next to him.
I could barely see the Moon through the docking hatch window but the iPhone was the perfect size to catch the view…this is uncropped, uncut with 8x zoom which is quite comparable to the view of the human eye. Enjoy.
We see our home planet as a whole, lit up in spectacular blues and browns. A green aurora even lights up the atmosphere. That's us, together, watching as our astronauts make their journey to the Moon.
Nominal translunar injection burn complete. The Artemis II crew is officially on the way to the Moon.
America is back in the business of sending astronauts to the Moon. This time, farther than ever before.
Liftoff.
The Artemis II mission launched from @NASAKennedy at 6:35pm ET (2235 UTC), propelling four astronauts on a journey around the Moon.
Artemis II will pave the way for future Moon landings, as well as the next giant leap — astronauts on Mars.
Chief Warrant Officer 5 Eric Slover is a real life Superman and I’ll tell you why:
-Obtaining CW5 in the Army is extremely rare in itself.
-Right shoulder is a combat patch with Special Operations Command. Essentially meaning he is “Delta Force” of Aviation.
-Eric was the first Chief Warrant Officer to receive in Medal of Honor in military history.
-Combat hashes on his right sleeve total up to 10. One stripe is given every 6 months of active combat service. He has been deployed for (at least) 5 years in a combat environment.
And this is on top of what he did in Venezuela.
American legend and hero.
A 2-star QB scrambling for potentially the national-championship-winning touchdown on 4th down in his hometown against his hometown team after winning the Heisman for the most losing program of all time while his mother with MS screams for joy from her seat is possibly the limit of how good sports can get
After the game, Oregon Football equipment staffer went up to D'Angelo Ponds and gave him the ball from his pick 6! What an unbelievable person! That’s what college football is all about!
They laugh at the stable. And they always miss the birth. The soul is not reborn in golden halls. It is reborn in stables. Among animals. In poverty. In the quiet faith of those who have nothing to prove. I would rather kneel at that poor table than feast in their empty temples
