CofE church @DioceseofLondon dating back to the middle ages, reordered in 1666 and 1941. Ministering to the City of London. The Rector is @ArchdeaconLuke
Wonderful yesterday to host a session of the national DAC (buildings advisors) conference @bythewardrobe to see our refurbished grade 1 listed CNZ church.
We are delighted to be featured here. Our air source heat pumps & new lighting make us one of the first grade 1 listed CNZ buildings @cityoflondon & one of the first churches in the UK @churchofengland@dioceseoflondon
With more than 600 listed buildings, the Square Mile’s #heritage buildings pose a significant #retrofit challenge. We’ve launched a Heritage Retrofit Toolkit to empower building owners to initiate adaptations to reduce #carbon emissions.

@GaryWaddington There is no such thing as value free education. All education has an underlying philosophy. Church schools are clear and open about what ours is; are non church schools clear or just making assumptions about “self evident right” based ultimately on Christian moral philosophy?
@GaryWaddington Plus the church usually owns the land / buildings or negotiated with big landowners who have reverter clauses. So *huge* cost to re-provide the plant. Put another way the church has massive capital on centuries long term loan to education of all children.
In England St Andrew's Day was colloquially known as 'Tandrew' or 'Tandry', and to celebrate it was to 'keep Tandry'. Traditional foods for the day included hot elderberry wine and 'tandry wigs', a kind of soft bun https://t.co/KCmzJkM6Tl
This afternoon privileged to be for London Church Leaders at the Farewell of General & Commissioner Peddle & Welcome of the High Council @salvationarmy. It so happens that @SalvArmyIHQ is in the parish of @bythewardrobe.
The scaffolding is up for the redecorations! Here are some close ups of the plaster ceiling usually dozens of feet above our heads. The crowned passion flowers are topical for a #Coronation in Eastertide & the detail on the roundels of flowers, fruits & vegetables is amazing.
Phase 2 of our refurbishment is under way! Green heating, lighting & rewiring done, now for the equal access ramp, loos kitchen & redecorations. Join us for the thanksgiving on July 26 at 1800. Meanwhile all services still at S Martin Ludgate. Mass today at 1230.
The maple has moved from its planter as we put the equal access ramp into the N churchyard. When the works are done the planters will be repostioned and... replanted! Hopefully the maple will flourish @AllHallowsTower
From St Andrew by the Wardrobe to All Hollows by the Tower! This rescued Japanese maple will now be tenderly brought back to life in the nursery. @bythewardrobe is the first net zero carbon church in @cityoflondon
