I had a meaningful exchange with Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim, Director General of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation in Agriculture @IICAnews, when he visited the Secretariat 🇬🇾 on Tuesday 9 June. We discussed CARICOM's ongoing efforts to reduce the Region's food import bill, and the role for enhanced cooperation, youth-focused programmes, and improved transportation links in achieving sustainable food production.

🤝 On Thursday, 4 June, the CARICOM Secretariat welcomed a delegation from the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Senior Command and Staff Course Number 20 (SCSC #20).
🛡️ The visit featured a special knowledge-sharing session with officials from the Secretariat’s Crime and Security Programme. GDF officers participated in an interactive exchange on CARICOM’s role in advancing regional security initiatives.

@CImpacs, with support from the U.S. Government, is strengthening regional defences at this week’s Firearms Trafficking Workshop in 🇹🇹.
In partnership with @ATFHQ, @HSI_HQ & @CBP, regional law enforcement is enhancing strategies to combat gun trafficking and organised crime.
💻 Tax officials and development partners from across the Region have recently convened a virtual workshop on Electronic Invoicing (E-Invoicing), co-organised by the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Caribbean Organisation of Tax Administrators (COTA), Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Caribbean Association of Tax Administrators, Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations, International Monetary Fund/Caribbean Regional Technical Assistance Centre and the World Bank Group.
💼The workshop explored how digital solutions can reduce compliance burdens, strengthen revenue collection, improve transparency, and enhance business efficiency.
🤝🏾Participants examined the evolution of traditional e-invoicing systems to Digital Continuous Transactional Reporting (DCTR) frameworks and heard practical implementation experiences from Belize and Mauritius.
🗣️Key discussions focused on stakeholder engagement, taxpayer transition strategies, business continuity, and considerations for Small Island Developing States.
🌎A total of 193 participants representing 20 countries took part in the workshop, reflecting a strong regional commitment to collaboration, innovation, and the advancement of digital tax administration across the Caribbean.
