Many end up in Mexico, targeted by organized rings and even cartels, where they’re sometimes used to move drugs and weapons. Catherine Vermillion’s Jeep was tracked to Tijuana, and with the help of a veteran stolen-car bounty hunter, she got it back. But for most victims, stolen cars are never recovered.

Luigi Mangione was back in federal court on Friday as lawyers argued over whether prosecutors can seek the death penalty in the 2024 killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. President Trump had given authority for the U.S. military to conduct strikes inside of Venezuela as early as Christmas Day, CBS News has learned, but there were U.S. military operations that day against ISIS targets in Nigeria, so the focus shifted away from an operation in the South American country.

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife have been indicted, according to a social media post from U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi.

Maduro is facing charges in the Southern District of New York that include narco-terrorism conspiracy, cocaine important conspiracy and possession of machineguns and destructive devices and conspiracy to possess machineguns and destructive devices against the United States.
