Each home dedication we do is important, but this one was particularly special. Surrounded by her neighbors and loved ones, Modesta read prepared comments, thanking God, the donors, and Comunidad Connect for making her dream a reality.
Modesta Blandin's neighbors have nothing but good things to say about her and the hard work she has given to her community. "She absolutely deserves it", said Jose Isodoro when asked about Modesta's new home.
Modesta Blandin is the epitome of our co-investment guiding principle. Because of her living situation and her outstanding community service, Modesta was selected to receive a new home in 2023. Follow along this week as we present her story.

They helped build the health clinic, collected data, modified homes, ran pilot projects, and started our community garden project. In November 2022, Comunidad Connect donors helped 6 members of the Alaniz family convert their old kitchen into new rooms
The Alaniz Family consists of Tingo, Marlene, their three daughters, Anglea, Francis and Gema, and four grandchildren. Since we started working at Los Robles, the Alaniz Family has been a source of unconditional support for Comunidad Connect.
His words—powerful, inspiring, devastating in their truth—were drawn from this deep well of courage, from King’s belief in the obligation of every human being to fight for justice, and from his genuine love for humankind".
He was assassinated 2 months later.
Today we celebrate Dr. King's life and inspirational leadership as we reflect on his legacy of civil rights reform. Not only should we remember Dr. King’s words but also acknowledge his "courage and his sacrifice in the service of justice.
On Feb. 4, 1968, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, "Yes, if you want to say that I was a drum major, say that I was a drum major for justice, say that I was a drum major for peace, I was a drum major for righteousness, and all the other shallow things will not matter."

Our staff, board of directors, and community partners greatly appreciate all your support and caregiving last year. Together, we accomplish so much more than we can alone - thank you for you being an integral part of our work to alleviate poverty in Nicaragua and the DR.
There are two days remaining to make a 2022 tax-deductible donation and create a life-changing impact. Your support means our programs reach more people! When we have access to healthcare, housing, and opportunities, we can do more for ourselves, our loved ones, and our community
Virginia Chavarria has spent all of 2022 happy because of your support. In her new house, she loves to lay in bed and listen to the sound of rain on the roof. Give the gift of a dry and secure home this holiday season: https://t.co/ottGofv5Mi
