Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI). Working to end epidemics & pandemics by developing new vaccines for a safer world. #100DaysMission
The next pandemic could begin anywhere, at any moment. And the risk of a deadly outbreak is only rising.
But it doesn’t have to be that way.
CEPI 3.0 is our plan to move the world from reactive response to proactive protection
We’re delighted to be renewing our long-standing partnership with the @NRC_CNRC to help accelerate vaccine development and manufacturing so future outbreaks can be contained before they become global emergencies 🇨🇦🌍
The new agreement was signed yesterday in Whistler, Canada.
Could your institution potentially help support a Phase 1 clinical trial for Bundibugyo ebolavirus vaccine candidates in Africa? CEPI is inviting clinical research institutions across Africa to respond to a new Request for Information.
The aim is to better understand which sites can support Phase I clinical trials for epidemic vaccine candidates, in line with ICH-GCP standards, for the possibility to conduct phase I clinical trials of Bundibugyo virus vaccine candidates.
This will help connect trial sites with vaccine developers and support faster study start-up when it matters most.
Building this early-stage trial capacity is an important step towards making sure research can begin quickly during outbreaks, and that critical data can be generated without delay.
If your institution has this capability, we encourage you to respond. Please share among your networks, too.

Vaccines can help prevent outbreaks from becoming humanitarian crises. CEPI supports the development of vaccines, platform technologies and manufacturing innovations to combat some of the world's most deadly pathogens. https://t.co/WK5tIqrOM3
Our Calls for Proposals invite innovators worldwide to apply to our scientific programmes to advance the development and manufacture of vaccines and tools against epidemic and pandemic threats. Learn more about our Open Calls and how to apply below.

CEPI’s 100 Days Mission aims to develop safe and effective vaccines within 100 days of identifying a new pandemic threat. That’s just over three months from the recognition of the threat to a vaccine being ready for initial authorisation and manufacturing at scale.

Yesterday, CEPI convened The Global Vaccine Manufacturing Summit 2026 in London.
For the first time financing institutions, vaccine developers, regulators, manufacturers, philanthropies and global health partners, all came together in one room, to discuss how the ambition of geographic diversification and sustainable manufacturing can become a reality.
Across the day, conversations covered topics related to:
🏭 Sustainable, regionally distributed vaccine manufacturing
🪙 Innovative and blended financing to keep facilities "warm" between outbreaks
🧾 Regulatory readiness and harmonisation as a core part of the 100 Days Mission
🧠The role of AI and new technologies in accelerating vaccine development and manufacture

Focused on strengthening regional manufacturing capacity at the Global Vaccine Manufacturing Summit. @WHOEMRO is working with countries across the Eastern Mediterranean Region to strengthen regulatory systems under the strategic flagship initiative to “expand equitable access to medical products”.
We must move from a model where access is determined by geography to one where it is designed to be equitable from the onset. This transformation will ensure equity, solidarity and global health security.
Thank you @CEPIvaccines for hosting this important event.

What will it take to build a more resilient, sustainable vaccine manufacturing ecosystem?
On 17 June, CEPI is bringing together leaders from across biomanufacturing, financing, policy and global health to tackle that question and focus on practical ways to strengthen preparedness for future epidemics and pandemics.
This Summit is designed to connect decision-makers and explore real opportunities to:
🔵 Scale and sustain regional manufacturing capacity
🔵 Accelerate translation of scientific innovation into production
🔵 Strengthen partnerships and unlock the financing needed for preparedness
From high-level political priorities and South–South collaboration to innovative financing models and next-generation manufacturing approaches, the agenda brings together a wide range of perspectives across the ecosystem.
The event will be livestreamed here:

Recordings will also be shared on CEPI’s digital channels after the event.
The new funding will make a substantial contribution towards CEPI’s goal to advance at least two vaccine candidates through to emergency authorisation.
With no licensed vaccines available for Bundibugyo virus this early catalytic funding underscores the urgent and critical need for medical countermeasures to help curtail the outbreak, complementing ongoing public health interventions by affected countries.
In West Africa, where seasonal Lassa fever outbreaks occur every year, clinicians have spent year after year treating hundreds of patients with Lassa fever, with limited capacity to conduct clinical research towards finding better treatment and prevention tools for this disease.
CEPI’s Research Preparedness Program is helping close this gap by strengthening clinical trial infrastructure, systems and skills at frontline sites across West Africa - transforming them into trial sites capable of generating vital clinical trial evidence before and during outbreaks.
Across five sites in Nigeria, that shift is already underway:
🔵 New and upgraded clinical trial facilities
🔵 Trained teams ready to activate quickly
🔵 Sites now able to run clinical trials, with some already getting started
Establishing this clinical trial capability now means that in the event of a Disease X outbreak, rather than starting from scratch, the trial sites could potentially pivot to support emergency evidence generation needed to advance vaccines through approval, in support of CEPI’s 100 Days Mission.
In our latest Innovations for Impact story, we spoke to two site leads, Dr Yusuf Bara Jibrin and Professor Benedict Azuogu, about what this transformation looks like on the ground ⬇️

📣 CEPI has partnered with Public Health Vaccines to rapidly advance early-stage development of a vaccine candidate against the Bundibugyo ebolavirus in response to the ongoing epidemic in the DRC and neighbouring Uganda.

Our CEO, @DrRHatchett, said: "The rVSV platform has demonstrated its value when responding to previous Zaire ebolavirus outbreaks – and this same technology could now be vital in saving lives against Bundibugyo."
Reminder: This urgent Call for Proposals seeking to accelerate early-stage Bundibugyo virus vaccine candidates closes in just three days (12 June).

🚨 CEPI has launched an urgent Call for Proposals seeking to accelerate early‑stage vaccine candidates against Bundibugyo virus (BDBV), following the 2026 public health emergency declared by the Africa CDC and WHO.
With cases rising across the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda — and no licensed vaccine available — there is a critical need to fast‑track promising candidates that could support current outbreak response efforts, and also help to strengthen the future pipeline against this deadly virus.
CEPI will award funding to advance scientifically robust, operationally feasible BDBV vaccine candidates that can move rapidly toward Phase 1 evaluation. CEPI is specially seeking candidates with strong preclinical signals, rapid development timelines, and potential for scalable, equitable access. Developers, especially those in Africa or partnering with African institutions, are encouraged to apply via the CEPI Portal.
