Durante la segunda semana en @Bell_English tuvimos la oportunidad de aprender la mediación de conceptos y comunicación, además de ver actividades para las clases de C1 y C2 para fomentar las destrezas productivas y receptivas. Thank you Vic Richardson and Chris Edgoose @CEdgoose.
As schools become linguistically & culturally diverse, it makes sense to ensure that teaching staff are adequately prepared. We look at CPD to enable teaching staff to work effectively in diverse multilingual classrooms: https://t.co/Jc16V1RG6G
Most educational innovations, contrary to what they claim, do not allow for self-development and “perpetuate the ‘I say-you follow’ superior-inferior relationship between policy makers and teachers." (Rebolledo, 2013) So there!
@eltplanning @Bell_English the answer to all problems, and sometimes inappropriate tech leads to teachers being unfairly blamed for not making it work. Memorable phrase for me was that EdTech sometimes feels like a solution looking for a problem! 2/2
@eltplanning @Bell_English He was just offering a critique of the industry focus on tech really. I think the main suggestion was that we may be at the wave’s peak and it’s time for a ‘tech-lash’ as he calls it. He gave an interesting perspective on how tech in the classroom was not 1/2
@Chimphands @Bell_English So when the teacher (or students) stand in one place they produce greenhouse-like utterances, and so on. The talk was largely about producing the sound substance to prepare the brain for hearing it.
Final tip: earworms that students can't get out of their head. I like this idea and always forget to use them in class - maybe this will be the year I remember to do it consistently! #Iatefl2019 Cauldwell has examples on his blog https://t.co/K35U7uF6eu 'where there were'
#Iatefl2019 Cauldwell shows us how to wade through treacle and use a monotone. The rules of connected speech are like a courtship - all you'e allowed to do is touch hands. It's very polite, but doesn't take us to the jungle.
He also uses a 5 column display which he calls the window on speech. Columsn 5 and 3 are crush/squeeze zones, 4 and 2 are prominent syllables. We should work in the squeeze zones. Have physical positions for the botanic area to match up #Iatefl2019
