☀️ Summer is officially here, and the EDA is heading to Lake Cowichan Lake Days! We are proud to be marching in the parade. Come out, give us a wave, and celebrate our amazing community. After the parade, come find our tent— @JeffKibbleCML will be on-site to chat.
I just left a meeting with local representatives of the Mill Closure Working Group — and the message was clear.
Liberal Minister Hajdu still hasn't delivered on the support promised to laid-off forestry workers. The federal government still hasn't negotiated on softwood lumber tariffs. These delays have real consequences for real families right here on Vancouver Island.
Enough waiting. These workers and this vital renewable resource industry deserve action — not empty promises.
I will continue fighting for them.
Missed our AGM this weekend? We’ve got you covered! 🎥
Check out our EDA 2025–26 Year-in-Review. It’s a long watch, but every second is packed with the amazing milestones, events, and community impact you helped us achieve!

Huge thanks to everyone who joined our AGM this weekend! 🙌 We celebrated a fantastic 2025–26 and officially welcomed our new Board members. With this team, we are ready to move forward with total confidence.
Special thanks to @JeffKibbleCML for the inspiring words.
The Liberals want a pat on the back for "raising" military pay. But I'm hearing from members who are scratching their heads — because it's not showing up in their take-home pay. I spoke with my colleague MP @GarnettGenuis to dig into what's actually going on — and why this Liberal announcement looks a lot better in a press release than it does in a service member's bank account. Our troops deserve straight answers, not spin. 🎖️ Watch the full conversation.

As I reflect back on my first year as your Member of Parliament, I am thankful for all those I have had the pleasure of talking to across Vancouver Island as I carry our collective voices to Ottawa.
I am also very grateful for my amazing staff, my generous supporters and most of all my amazing family and wife who with their support I could not fully embrace this mission going forward.
I will continue my pressure on the Liberal government to take action and determine who is responsible for ending and cleaning up the illegal dumps in the Cowichan Valley including the largest that is upstream of the Cowichan River fish hatchery. We must all be stewards of our land.
HUGE NEWS: @MelissaLantsman is coming to the Cowichan Valley! 🍷🇨🇦

Thank you to the Cowichan Agriculture Society for hosting an important discussion with our local farmers. Hearing directly from those who anchor our food systems is essential to effective representation in Ottawa.
Our conversation focused on several critical challenges:
· Conservation vs. Protection: Addressing the nuances of the 30 by 30 initiative to ensure land management remains practical and productive.
· Water Management & Infrastructure:Tackling the untenable seasonal restrictions and the urgent need for better waterway stewardship.
· Land Title Certainty: Providing clear, steadfast reassurance regarding property rights and meaningful reconciliation amid ongoing First Nations land claims.
· Regional Food Security: Strengthening our local supply chains to ensure Vancouver Island becomes self-sufficient and resilient in the face of emergencies.
I am committed to bringing these priorities to my colleagues in Ottawa and ensuring that the voices of Vancouver Island farmers are heard.
Wishing everyone in Cowichan-Malahat-Langford a blessed and joyful Easter! 🌷🇨🇦
As we celebrate renewal and hope, let’s take a moment to be grateful for our families, our freedom, and this beautiful land we call home. Have a wonderful long weekend!

Canada has the world’s fourth largest oil reserve – yet our gas prices have still skyrocketed because of a conflict halfway around the world. We have to get our resources to market, which means getting shovels in the ground and green-lighting major projects that have already been promised. I will continue to push the Government to deliver on the projects they promised so that we can build leverage and rebuild our economy.
Thank you to @UniforCanada for the productive meeting about the work required to support unions in vital industries like forestry in Cowichan – Malahat – Langford.
We spoke at length about the UNIFOR members at the Crofton and Chemainus Mills – who are facing devastating closures and curtailments. I discussed some of the work I have done including helping workers get supports, holding a forestry town hall and sitting on a local forestry working group with provincial, municipal, union and industry representatives. I have also started a petition
calling on the Government and Minister to immediately provide the promised retraining funding and necessary EI extensions to make coverage equal and fair to all employees.
I will continue to stand up for industry and business on Vancouver Island, including forestry, and hold the Minister to account for her promises made earlier this month to local union leaders.
I stand with BC recreational fishers.
Our chinook and coho salmon are common property resources that belong to the people of Canada. Conservative Members of Parliament from across Canada and I delivered a letter to the Minister of Fisheries today reminding her of this and demanding she protect BC’s recreational fishing industry, our coastal communities and our way of life.
We have 4 days left before a decision if made by DFO. Reach out to the Minister TODAY!

Under attack - our charter rights, freedom of speech and freedom of religion! Last night, the Liberals and the Bloc rammed Bill C-9 through another stage with limited debate. This is a clear attack on religious freedoms in Canada. We have one last chance to stop this before a final vote on Wednesday.
