Wayanad’s long-cherished dream is moving closer to reality. On March 6, the first blasting will be switched on at Anakkampoyil, marking the start of rock excavation for the Anakkampoyil–Kalladi–Meppadi tunnel road.

Implemented through KIIFB at a cost of ₹2143 crore, this 8.735 km four-lane tunnel will transform connectivity and open new possibilities for the economic, agricultural, tourism and healthcare sectors of the Malabar region. Once considered impossible, such major infrastructure is now becoming reality through careful planning and political will.

This is another firm step in building a New Kerala committed to comprehensive and people-centred development.

From a dark era where students relied on photocopies to study to a new dawn where textbooks are delivered months in advance. Today, launched the state-level distribution of 5.9 Cr textbooks & 8 lakh handloom uniforms for the 2026-27 academic year- well ahead of the school reopening in June. This reaffirms the LDF Govt’s commitment to offer quality education for our children along with world-class infrastructure.

Laid the foundation stone for the Kerala Institute of Organ and Tissue Transplant (KIOTT) at Chevayur, Kozhikode, India’s first comprehensive public-sector institute dedicated to organ and tissue transplantation. Conceived on par with advanced centres in the US and China, KIOTT will provide advanced transplant care under one roof at nearly one-third the cost charged by private hospitals.

At a time when nearly 90% of organ transplant surgeries in India are carried out in the private sector, this ₹525-crore KIIFB-supported project marks a decisive step in strengthening public healthcare and expanding access to life-saving treatment. KIOTT reaffirms a core principle of the Kerala Model: healthcare is a right, not a commodity.

Wrote to the Hon’ble PM @narendramodi Ji expressing grave concern over the VB–G RAMG Bill, which dilutes the legendary MGNREGA scheme and weakens the constitutional role of States in the implementation of it. Such provisions strike at the core of federal principles and undermine cooperative federalism that is vital to our democracy.

Kerala takes another compassionate step in healthcare. The LDF Government has announced completely free KSRTC travel for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiation therapy anywhere in the state. With a doctor’s certificate, patients can avail themselves of passes for all services— from superfast to ordinary —reaffirming Kerala’s inclusive model of development.

Kerala has become the first state to pass a Bill amending the Central Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. The Kerala Wildlife Protection Amendment Bill, along with the Forest Amendment Bill, marks a major step towards addressing rising human-animal conflicts and ensuring justice for forest-edge communities. These reforms reaffirm Kerala’s commitment to safeguarding both human life and wildlife, fostering harmony between people and nature.

Met Hon’ble Union Finance Minister Smt. @nsitharaman Ji today, and submitted a detailed memorandum on Kerala’s fiscal situation. Sought urgent central intervention to ease borrowing constraints and address GST-related revenue losses to ensure uninterrupted welfare and development initiatives.

The Kerala Right to Public Service Bill, 2025, passed by the Assembly today, strengthens citizens’ right to timely, transparent & accountable service delivery. If a requested service isn’t provided within 30 days, it will be deemed served. The Bill also ensures a robust platform for addressing grievances, marking another step in people-centric governance.

Had a productive meeting with Union Health Minister Shri @JPNadda Ji and submitted a memorandum on key healthcare priorities for Kerala. Reiterated the long-pending demand for AIIMS and proposed a National Institute for Geriatric Care, given Kerala’s ageing population and leadership in healthcare.

Met with the Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Shri @nitin_gadkari Ji, to discuss the urgent need to accelerate key infrastructure projects in Kerala. Submitted a memorandum outlining the steps taken by the State Government to facilitate these works and urged the Centre to expedite the delayed NH-66 project, along with sanctioning other vital corridors essential for Kerala’s development.

Held discussions with the Union Home & Cooperation Minister Shri @AmitShah Ji and submitted a memorandum outlining key proposals to strengthen Kerala’s internal security and development. Highlighted the need for enhanced coastal security, women’s safety, forensic infrastructure, and modernisation of emergency services. Also requested a review of the decision to remove Kannur and Wayanad from the list of LWE-affected districts.
