Last Friday, our #CoquitlamRCMP Traffic Services conducted a traffic stop with a commercial dump truck to address an unsafe equipment inadequacy. It was found that the driver was also impaired and was subsequently served with a driving prohibition and the truck and trailer were impounded. Additionally, a Motor Vehicle Regulations violation ticket was issued for the initial observed offence.
We all play a role in #RoadSafety. Be responsible, please don't drink and drive. ๐จ

#CoquitlamRCMP continue e-dirt bike enforcement with seizures and violation tickets issued.
Over the past two months, we've received an increasing number of reports from the public and observed a rise in e-dirt bikes being operated on city streets, parks, sidewalks, and other public spaces. E-dirt bikes can only be legally operated on Crown land, prescribed private land, or on designated off-road trails. E-dirt bikes are not street legal. ๐
Coquitlam RCMP remain committed to enforcing the law and ensuring public safety.

๐ Excessive speed puts everyone at risk.
On July 5, a #CoquitlamRCMP officer conducting enforcement on the Mary Hill Bypass spotted a vehicle travelling 112 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.
The driver was issued an excessive speed ticket and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
Higher speeds mean less reaction time and more severe collisions. Slow down and help keep our roads safe.

โ๏ธ School may be out for summer, but some locations will host summer school, and playground zone speed limits remain in effect. Please slow down and help keep our kids safe while they enjoy their summer!
Throughout the year, our officers conduct enforcement in school zones to ensure drivers are following speed limits and helping keep students safe. During his patrols, Cst. Cheng identified a need for increased enforcement near Alderson Elementary. He focused on this zone for five months, issuing 80 tickets for speeding in the school zone. His efforts paid off and recent proactive patrols near the school show a significant reduction in vehicle speeds.
On July 7, 2026, shortly after 9:00 a.m., #CoquitlamRCMP attended the 700 block of Roderick Avenue to assist Coquitlam Fire/Rescue Services with traffic control and scene security at a residential structure fire.
Based on information provided by a witness, it was determined one resident was unaccounted for. During firefighting operations, Coquitlam Fire/Rescue Services located a deceased individual inside the residence.
โOur thoughts are with the family, friends, and all those impacted by this tragic incident,โ says Sergeant Adriana OโMalley, Coquitlam RCMP Media Relations Officer.
An 18-year-old was treated at scene and a Coquitlam RCMP officer was transported to a local area hospital for smoke inhalation.
Coquitlam RCMP has assumed conduct of the investigation and is working collaboratively with Coquitlam Fire/Rescue Services and the BC Coroners Service. The identity of the deceased has not yet been determined, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Our friends at @RichmondRCMP have a good reminder: leaving pets in a parked car can turn dangerous fast. Keep your dogs home where they have access to shade and water. ๐ถ
