Canada's steel producers are proud to launch a new tool that will connect large steel customers with our steel producers.
We hope this tool helps build our country with Canadian workers using Canadian products.

"Absolutely grim anniversary. 50% tariffs are unsustainable and very damaging to our trading relationship and frankly, Canada's steel industry. We're doing our best to pivot, find new customers and new supply chains but that doesn't happen overnight. The bottom line for us is that it's time for this tariff war to get resolved" said @Catherine_CSPA, President and CEO of the CSPA to @CBC's David Cochrane on Friday evening's Power and Politics.

The CSPA Board was on the Hill yesterday to meet with a number of Ministers, federal departments, and Canada’s Chief Trade Negotiator to the United States ahead of this summer's crucial CUSMA review.
Canadian steel is grateful to all who met with us to discuss Canada’s steel trade measures, ongoing market dynamics, and the need to resolve the U.S. S.232 tariffs.
Great news out of Sault Ste. Marie last week with the Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario announcing a $148.2M investment into CSPA member @Tenaris in their steel production capacity.
Thank you to both the federal and provincial governments for continuing to support Canadian steel and the thousands of employees who call our industry home.
Steel is a vital material that enables everything we love about our modern automotive industry, from fast cars to reliable trucks.
Steel is everywhere and its lightweight is helping people move around the world while reducing their environmental footprint.
"The US derivative tariffs are now capturing our Canadian customer base, and what this has done has created more urgency to get the 232 tariff regime down. Not only do we have the direct 50% tariffs of our own products, but now our Canadian customer base is being devastated by these tariffs as well" said @Catherine_CSPA, our President and CEO, in an interview with Bloomberg yesterday.

"It's unsustainable to have these Section 232 tariffs on our industry, however... there's no question we're in a very delicate moment between Canada and the United States, and the consequential effects of these U.S. tariffs on some key economic sectors of the Canadian economy" @Catherine_CSPA told CBC's The Current last week.

"We do hope to be in dialogue with the United States that sees a relief to these tariffs and the most important strategy, in our opinion, is to demonstrate to the US is that we have the same concerns. And, that we are taking equivalent measures and actions to protect national security related sectors, like our steel sector" said @Catherine_CSPA, CSPA's President and CEO on CBC's Ottawa Morning radio yesterday.

The Canadian Steel Producers Association welcomed Monday’s aid but urged the federal government to expand the list of products covered by its existing derivative tariff and boost it to a 50% level.
“This will offer immediate protection to a wider range of our Canadian customers,” said @Catherine_CSPA, president and CEO of the association.

"The tariffs are taking their toll... we're seeing an expansion of tariffs into our Canadian customer base which means our customers in Canada are now feeling a tightening of the screws on their products too."

On April 28th, we observe a National Day of Mourning to remember and honour all the men and women who have died, been injured or became ill at work.
We must protect Canadian workers and ensure safe, healthy workplaces for all.
