Celebrating DCP Dame Stella O. Okuyiga (Rtd.)

In nineteen fifty-five, a door was closed,
But Stella came with courage, not fear.
One of the first twenty women chose
To wear the blue and serve Nigeria here.

Through years of duty, discipline and grace,
You walked where few women dared to tread.
You opened paths for others to embrace
The Force, its honour, and the road ahead.

From 1955 to 1996 you stood,
A pioneer of truth, of strength, of light.
Your journey wrote a lasting sisterhood,
And gave new generations wings for flight.

Your book now keeps the sacred story bright,
The sacrifice, the struggle, and the song.
It tells of women who pursued the right,
And proved that competence and merit belong.

IGP Disu honours your legacy,
Port Harcourt celebrates your name.
Dame Stella, your place in history
Is etched in the Nigeria Police flame.

Retired, yet forever on parade,
A matriarch of courage, faith and fame.
Your courage lit the path for those who came,
And taught us service, dignity and aim.
Nigeria Police, your legacy remains.

Respectfully Yours,

A POLICEMAN’S TEARS FOR NAF 931

I speak for the Nigeria Police Force,
but today my voice trembles.
I wear a uniform too;
I know how a family waits at the door
for footsteps that may never come.

On 5 October 2026,
the sky over Igbokoda grew heavy.
NAF 931 left Benin for Lagos
and flew into the silence of forever.
Five crew. Twenty passengers.
Twenty-five souls. One nation’s heartbreak.

We called; the clouds kept their secret.
We searched; the earth gave no answer.
Hope returned with broken wings.
No survivors, only sorrow, questions, and God.

As policemen, we know loss.
We have knocked on doors with news too heavy to carry.
We have held mothers who collapsed in our arms.
So we do not merely send a statement, we send our hearts.

To the Nigerian Air Force,
to Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke dfs,
to every officer, airman and family:
we grieve with you.
Our flags fly at half-mast,
but so do our souls.

We cannot bring back the fallen,
but we can honour them.
We can remember them.
We can refuse to let their sacrifice be just another headline.

Sleep, gallant crew.
Sleep, beloved passengers.
You answered the call to serve and protect,
and you gave everything.
Your courage will not be forgotten.
Your families will not walk alone.

May the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace.
May God comfort every broken heart
and grant the Nigerian Air Force
the strength to bear this pain.
Amen 💯 🇳🇬
