Check it out - https://t.co/hJue7Yadhe!!! Thanks to the precarious historian fund who chipped in some money to make it possible (and all the people who yelled at us that our last website sucked) 🦊
We are encouraging Monash Teaching Associates and former casuals to fill out this anonymous form that continues the collection process for evidence of wage theft from casual staff at Monash University.
Please spread the word, and dive in if this is you.

@YaeganDoran@CUPUWorkers ‘Significant historic’ remaining 75% will continue to be exploited, abandon careers and/or more courses and disciplines taught by precariat will be dismantled.
This tentatively could be good. But before any wild celebrations, some clarity is needed about what has been agreed. First, I have seen nothing that indicates current casual staff will be guaranteed these positions.
This is absolutely laughable. There are nearly 8000 people employed at Monash and more than half of them are in insecure employment (casuals or fixed-term staff).
Transitioning casual teachers to 5-month fixed term (semester) positions is not a solution.
Shame on @MonashUni
Have you been offered ‘resilience training’ or self-care & well-being workshops ahead of International Self Care Day on July 24?
Joining your union is the best self-care there is. Collective problems need collective solutions. We can’t yoga our way out of structural violence xx
It's July 2022, this has been in the news now for over 3 years, and nothing has changed. What a joke.
@FrenchProfessor what are you doing to protect precarious staff from wage theft? You gave us a promise that it would not be tolerated.
Many precarious uni staff have a bit of reprieve during winter break. For some, this is a welcome rest but for others, it’s a struggle with no income.
With cost of living on the rise, all workers need job security more than ever. Tell your MP & your union. You are a priority.

Yesterday @raquela036 did @EmploymentGovAU's job for them and gave a stellar presentation on Workforce Australia and PBAS directly to unemployed workers left in the dark by the Department's dismal communications.

If you’re in debt on your bills, this grant covers up to $650 in each utility, or $1350 for one
TIP: Your provider can waive up to $650 with one application once every two years. If you’re struggling to meet the bills, ask for a pause on payments until it reaches $650.
Piper Rodd in today’s Geelong Advertiser piece: “Our (vice-chancellor) makes almost $1m a year, while others are lucky to scrape together enough to live on. It’s systemic disrespect.” Too right. Great article @michaelameade96 https://t.co/WIPba4l9NK
@fahad_s_ali@CasualsUsyd@CasualsMonash@LTUcasuals@CUPUWorkers It has been casual collaboration across the country that has led to amplifying the situation of precarity through research, engagement with peers and the media. Let’s hope that we aren’t sold up the river this year as working conditions are negotiated
A privilege to stand alongside staff & students for @NTEUnion’s industrial action at Western Sydney Uni.
It’s more urgent than ever that universities are better workplaces with secure work, fair pay & conditions. It’s a fight I know we can win together.
#betterunis#wsustrike
Monash Uni has just posted a surplus of $411 million and they are.. checks direction from Arts faculty education officers.. needing you to cut online tutorials and work for free next semester.
#WageTheft#Again
Sending love and solidarity to those participating in #USydStrike this morning! Keep fighting for fairness because management have clearly no idea what that looks like
$1.04billion that @Sydney_Uni could have invested in staff and students during one of the most difficult recent periods in higher education. $1.04b. In what world is it prudent financial management to sit on this much money? #USydstrike
It’s time for change and a conversation about precarity and wage theft @CasualsUsyd@CUPUWorkers@MehreenFaruqi@tanya_plibersek and it’s time for any inquiries to not involve management of universities as we can’t really trust them at this point
Across the board profits, wage theft I would love to see management teams of these important institutions held to account and no more bonuses until the most precarious employees are paid properly @CUPUWorkers@CasualsUsyd@tanya_plibersek@MehreenFaruqi
Solidarity with Toby Priest and all casuals who are living lives of insecurity that have been manufactured by amoral university managers and pushed-aside by union leaders for decades:

TEQSA clearly taking aim @MonashUni here. This is what @CasualsMonash and @CUPUWorkers have been pushing for over the past few years. Finally we are getting somewhere on the wage-theft crisis at the uni. Lots more work to do.
