‘Christmas has become a real luxury for many families’ – SVP volunteer says more ‘working poor’ contact charity due to cost-of-living crisis

The charity has been receiving calls from many working families, which they would not have been getting 10 years ago, asking for help with the high costs of third-level education, rent or mortgages.

“The cost of living has really escalated to a level that is bringing more non-traditional SVP people coming to us,” Mr Murphy said.
