Gold has little to no value as a product and has no means of assessing that will tell you that 1 gold coin should be valued at $3k last year, $5k last month, and $4k today.

So by thise standards it's similar to bitcoin

Bitcoin is better gold because it's censorship resistant, private, hard to confiscate, and can be transferred internationally cheaply and without external approval.
