On Thursday, June 4, 2026, we stopped a vehicle racing west along McKnight Blvd. N.E. from Metis Trail N.E. The driver sped to an estimated 150 km/h before ultimately being stopped.
🔴 The driver received a ticket for careless driving & their car was towed because it wasn't registered.

One week until the Stampede Parade!
We're saddlin’ up to keep y’all safe at this year’s #StampedeParade. Before the wagons roll & the boots hit the pavement, here’s what you need to know:
🚧 Roads along the parade route shut down at 7:30 a.m. sharp on Friday, July 3, 2026 & they’ll stay closed ‘til the last horse trots by 2 p.m.
🚙 No vehicles are allowed on the parade route ‘til it’s all wrapped up. That means no sneakin’ in early or tryin’ to scoot out — we’re keepin’ the trail clear for everyone’s safety.
🅿️ Don’t park in lots or parkades that exit onto the closed roads. You’ll be stuck there ‘til the dust settles at 2 p.m.

🔵 CHARGE LAID 🔵
A man has been charged with manslaughter following a drug-related death that occurred in northeast Calgary in November 2025.
📍 On Thursday, Nov. 27, 2025, 2 16-year-old girls met with an acquaintance, a man in his 40s, in downtown Calgary. The group attended the man’s residence in the 8300 block of Centre Street N.E., where it is believed drugs were consumed.
On the morning of Friday, Nov. 28, 2025, at approximately 7:25 a.m., the man discovered 1 of the girls was unconscious and called 911. Emergency responders arrived shortly after, but the girl could not be revived.
A subsequent autopsy determined the cause of death was the toxic effects of carfentanil. The victim was identified as 16‑year‑old Jordynn ATKINS‑MATERI.
Following an investigation by the Calgary Police Service Drug Investigations for Safer Communities (DISC) Team & with Crown Prosecutor consultation, it was determined charges were warranted.
On Thursday, June 25, 2026, 1 man was taken into custody.
📌 Steve Phillip Gilbert COLLINS, 40, of Calgary has been charged with one count of manslaughter in relation to this death. He will next appear in court on Monday, July 6, 2026.
This investigation comes as we recognize the International Day Against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking today, June 26, 2026, a reminder of the ongoing impact of illicit drugs in our communities. This is the first time that the CPS has laid a manslaughter charge in relation to an overdose death.
ℹ️ About overdose investigations
In 2023, the CPS began an OverDOSE pilot project, which utilized drug investigators to maintain consistency in all overdose or drug-related death investigations. In 2025, the Service formalized this pilot project with the creation of the Drug Investigations for Safer Communities (DISC) Team.
The DISC Team targets drug traffickers responsible for selling substances causing overdose deaths, as well as the sale of illicit drugs online. The DISC Team works closely with our existing Drug Undercover Street Team (DUST) to conduct investigations.
