Last year: Missed the Playoffs on a tie-breaker AND we tied the league record for most points to miss the playoffs in the process while finishing higher than 2 teams in the Eastern Conference in the standings.

I do think we'll be fine, we'll get a good player at 6, possibly the same player we would have picked at 4! Just brutal that it's back to back years with rotten end of season outcomes by the slimmest of margins. Oh well.

This year: if we finish 1 point higher OR lower, Flames pick top 5 for just the 2nd time since moving to Calgary 46 years ago, instead, we drop twice and pick 6th! 1 more point, they get the Leafs lottery win last night, if we have 1 less point, we sit where the Rangers are at 5.

I checked where Flames and Canucks have finished the last 5 seasons. Cgy has finished higher in the standings than the Van in 4 of 5 seasons. The exception is 2024.
