This is Cardinal Burke's Press Secretary posting for His Eminence. His Eminence Raymond Leo Cardinal Burke consecrates new altar stones for the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse, Wisconsin. The consecration of an altar stone signifies the sanctification of a place for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

On December 10, 1925, the Blessed Virgin Mary, Our Lady of Fatima, with the Infant Jesus at her side resting on a bright cloud, appeared to the Venerable Servant of God Lucia dos Santos, the surviving shepherd child of Fatima, who was, at the time, a Postulant with the Sisters of Saint Dorothy in Pontevedra, Spain… To prepare for the celebration of the centennial, I invite you to join me in nine weeks of prayer, beginning on this coming October 8th and ending on this coming December 10th, the 100th Anniversary of the apparition at Pontevedra.

Worshiping the Most Precious Blood of Jesus, we rejoice in the great mystery of God’s steadfast and enduring love of us, His marriage with us, sealed by the age-old covenant which is consummated in the outpouring of the Most Precious Blood of His only-begotten Son. Through the outpouring of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus from His glorious pierced Heart, the Holy Spirit dwells always in our hearts, stirring up in us the response of pure and selfless love to the faithful and enduring love of God. The Holy Spirit purifies and strengthens our hearts for union with the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
The great Mystery of Faith, of the Real Presence of Christ with us in the Most Blessed Sacrament, is entrusted into the hands of ordained priests for the glory of God and the salvation of souls. For that reason, dear brothers, priests and those responding to the priestly vocation, today, our hearts are filled with particular joy and gratitude for the priestly vocation.
God sealed the covenant of His love with us, through Moses, at Mount Sinai with the sprinkling of the blood of “young bulls” offered in sacrifice. He brought the covenant to fulfillment with the Blood of Christ, which was poured out in sacrifice, for us, from His pierced Heart on the Cross at Calvary and is poured out unceasingly, for us, from His glorious pierced Heart in the Eucharistic Sacrifice which He offer on the altars of churches and chapels throughout the world.
On July 30, 2008, four years before she was canonized by Pope Benedict XVI on October 21, 2012, the then-Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha was memorialized at the dedication of an outdoor devotional area. When you come to the Shrine on pilgrimage, I encourage you to spend time in prayer at this devotional area, and to ask Saint Kateri to intercede for you and your family. Ask her, in particular, to give you a great love of the Virgin Mother of God and, therefore, of her Divine Son, Our Savior, through the praying of the Holy Rosary.
Saint Kateri Tekakwitha followed faithfully the maternal counsel of the Virgin Mary whom she daily invoked through the praying of the Holy Rosary. When her own people would not permit her to live freely her life in Christ, she abandoned everything to live at the Jesuit mission at Kahnawake, south of Montreal. In that place, she offered her virginity to Our Lord for consecration and died a most holy death on April 1, 1680, at the age of 24. Saint Kateri trusted completely in the promise of salvation which Our Lord made to her in the Church, even as He also makes the same promise to us.
Placing our hearts into the Sacred Heart of Jesus, we are necessarily engaged in His kingly mission, in which to serve is to reign. Christ the King is to reign in our hearts, as He reigned perfectly in the Heart of His Virgin Mother from the moment of her Immaculate Conception.
Praised be Jesus Christ! I am very humbled to have received this letter from His Holiness, Pope Leo XIV, for the celebration of the Golden Jubilee of my ordination to the Holy Priesthood. Please join me in thanking Our Lord for the election of Pope Leo XIV, Successor of Saint Peter, as the Shepherd of the Church throughout the world. Please also pray for Pope Leo XIV that Our Lord, through the intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Saint Peter Apostle, and Pope Saint Leo the Great, will grant him abundant wisdom, strength, and courage to do all that Our Lord is asking of Him in these tumultuous times. May God bless Pope Leo and grant him many years. Viva il Papa!
The translation of this letter reads:
To Our Venerable Brother
RAYMOND LEO Cardinal BURKE of the Holy Roman Church
Cardinal-Priest of the Basilica of Saint Agatha of the Goths at Rome
As he celebrates the Golden Jubilee of his priestly ordination in Rome, which he received as a priest of the Diocese of La Crosse, we thank him for the prompt service he has zealously carried out and the earnest care he has demonstrated most especially for the law, which has also been of good service to the Dicasteries of the Apostolic See. He has preached the precepts of the Gospel according to the Heart of Christ and has recounted His treasures, diligently offering his devoted service to the Church universal. While anticipating the very best for him, and under the watchful care of blessed Peter and Paul the Apostles, it is our good pleasure to impart our Apostolic Blessing to him and to those near to him.
Given at the Vatican, 17 June, in the Holy Year 2025
Pope Leo XIV
In our gratitude today for the Apostles Saints Peter and Paul, and for the gift of 50 years of priestly life given to me, let us pray for those whom Christ is now calling to be fishers of men - our seminarians - and those are being called but have not yet entered the seminary. Conscious of the many challenges which a young man faces today in responding to the priestly vocation. Let us encourage those in whom we see signs of a priestly vocation, and let us sustain our good seminarians as they respond to Christ’s call. As a seminarian for 13 years and a priest for 50 years, I am witness to the importance of your prayers, encouragement, and support.
"The Sacred Heart of Jesus, substantially united to the Word of God, is overwhelmed with love for us. His compassionate love is ever aflame on our behalf. He has chosen to love us with a human heart unconditionally, totally, and forever. Out of faithful and enduring love for us, God the Son Himself has come to shepherd us, to rescue us from our sins and to provide for us an earthly home in the Church and our lasting home with Him in the Heavenly Jerusalem."
