Govt Relations Mgr for @scenichudson, @Cornell alum, advocate & defender of open space, wildlife & others that can't advocate for themselves. Personal opinions.
@scenichudson joined @LTAlliance & advocates from across the US for their Advocacy Days in Washington D.C. this week. 🇺🇸 We’ve talked to NY legislators like @RepPaulTonko & expressed our support for the NY-NJ Watershed Protection Act, Farm Bill, PCB cleanup in the Hudson, & more!
PROTECTING HABITAT: #ScenicHudson is proud to support the new Wildlife Movement Through Partnerships Act, sponsored by @SenAlexPadilla, @RepDonBeyer & Rep Zinke. This bill boosts efforts to ⬆️ #connectivity, supporting wildlife movement & migration. https://t.co/aiAl3xQzzd
Why will the🦝cross the road? Because @Bobby4Brooklyn & @LeroyComrie helped pass legislation through the NYS Assembly & Senate that will require DOT to assess roads in NYS for potential #wildlifecrossings to⬆️habitat #connectivity &⬇️wildlife vehicle collisions! TY bill sponsors!
Thank you @Bobby4Brooklyn and @LeroyComrie for helping little guys like this get to the other side of the road safely!!
The Wildlife Crossings Bill has just passed the NYS Assembly!!! What a win for Habitat Connectivity and Biodiversity!!
The NY Wildlife Crossing Act just passed the @NYSenate! 🦌 TY Sen. @LeroyComrie for sponsoring the bill & demonstrating your commitment to protecting our wildlife! Now we look forward to the swift passage of this crucial bill in the Assembly where @Bobby4Brooklyn is its champion.
I spent the day on Tuesday advocating for the Wildlife Crossings bill with these passionate colleagues. Grateful to @LeroyComrie and @Bobby4Brooklyn for sponsoring this important legislation that will direct the DOT to identify potential wildlife crossing sites over NYS roads!
It’s been a busy week lots of folks advocating for parks-clean water- from Adirondack Day to Peconic Estuary folks - @PlasticsBeyond - @scenichudson Hudson River Day- thanks to all
We had a wonderful #HudsonRiver Advocacy Day today! Thanks to @riverkeeper for co-organizing this event, & a big TY to all the advocates who came out to speak for our cause! @SenatorHarckham & @DeborahJGlick are fantastic champions of the River & we truly appreciate their support
DEFENDING THE HUDSON: The #HudsonRiver is a source of drinking 💧, recreation, inspiration & wildlife habitat. But it has suffered from a history of contamination & we still can't eat its 🐟. We're in #AlbanyNY telling legislators how important our river is to us! #HealTheHudson
Thank you @DeborahJGlick for your passionate opening remarks for Hudson River Advocacy. We appreciate your partnership and advocacy for the river and NY! @riverkeeper@scenichudson
WE 💚 PARKS: They = space for refuge, recreation, gathering, & climate resiliency. Protecting & creating parks is linked to the health & wellbeing of NY residents. Today, we're asking NY legislators for $250M for state parks & $26m for municipal parks. #DefendTheValley
83 MILLION people visited #NYStateParks last year. This year, I’ve traveled to Albany with almost 140 other advocates from around the state for #NYPAD2024. We’re asking legislators to include $250m in capital funding for NYS parks in the NYS budget to ensure continued benefits!
Advocates from across NYS have descended upon the Legislative Office Building in Albany today to talk to legislators about the #NYEnviroFund! Thank you @SenatorHarckham and @DeborahJGlick for your support of our call for a restoration of the EPF to $400m with no $25m offload.
PROTECTING (Y)OUR HEALTH: The #NYEnviroFund (EPF) is the #1 source of $ for enviro projects. We’re in Albany rallying for this fund to continue protecting our waters, farms & parks. Tell your reps that NY needs a $400M EPF with no offload for agency staff costs. #DefendTheValley
“This is an environmental issue. This is an economic issue. This is a social justice issue. This is a public health issue.” Thank you @SenatorHarckham for highlighting the importance of clean water, and the significant need for at least $600m in clean water funding in the budget.
CLEAN DRINKING WATER—TODAY!
We're in Albany today advocating for funding to replace lead pipes, treat drinking💧 for contaminants, & protect the sources of our drinking💧
Urge your reps and @GovKathyHochul to include at least $600m for #CleanWater in the final '24-25 state budget
FUNDING SOLUTIONS: @GovKathyHochul's proposed budget prioritizes the well-being of all NYers & boosts the Parks Capital Fund, but reduces historic funding for enviro programs. We hope the final budget fully funds the #NYEnviroFund & clean💧infrastructure.

TY @GovKathyHochul for⬆️investments in state parks in your proposed budget! We hope to see the restoration of the #NYEnviroFund to $400m (with no reduction for agency staffing expenses) & $500m for clean water infrastructure ANNUALLY in the final budget. https://t.co/knDeO8KZ0a
Excited that this bill is on the Gov's desk! Thank you @SenatorHinchey & @DidiBarrett106 for sponsoring the SITED Act, which would equip local govts with the resources they need to better understand the opportunities & impacts of renewable energy siting within their communities.
CLIMATE SOLUTIONS: Thank @GovKathyHochul for her leadership in the fight against #climatechange & urge her to sign the SITED Act to strengthen community engagement on vital projects like solar arrays, wind turbines & more: https://t.co/8P9SF6pvt6 #HowToSolarNow#DefendTheValley
Don't forget to submit your votes for this year's @Chronogram-mies!🏆I was honored with a nomination in the "Environmental Advocate/Activist" category, and @scenichudson was nominated in the "Environmental Organization" category!🌎Voting Closes on 5/15. https://t.co/WSZeO2M8xp
ENVIRONMENTAL HOME RUN: The #NYSBudget maintains historic funding for farms, parks, and enviro justice. Thanks @GovKathyHochul, @CarlHeastie & @AndreaSCousins for re-affirming NY's commitment to climate resilient communities, clean 💧 & outdoor recreation. https://t.co/ssuijVc790
