#6Jul | La Alcaldía de Miami, el condado de Miami-Dade y los Miami Marlins abrieron un centro de acopio para las víctimas de los terremotos de Venezuela en el estadio LoanDepot Park, sede del equipo de la MLB.

El centro abrirá durante ocho horas diarias y funcionará al menos una semana, un plazo que podrá prolongarse otros siete días si la necesidad persiste.

Durante la rueda de prensa de este lunes, la alcaldesa de Miami, Eileen Higgins, solicitó una ayuda sostenida y advirtió que la reconstrucción del país llevará años tras los terremotos.

"Este desastre no fue de un solo día; no basta con limpiar una semana. El trabajo de levantar al pueblo de Venezuela y reparar sus comunidades va a durar años", subrayó.

Por su parte, Caroline O'Connor, presidenta de los Miami Marlins, dijo que el club pone sus instalaciones a disposición de la campaña y que también recogerá donaciones en los accesos del estadio durante los partidos de esta semana.

Hasta ahora, lo que se ha reportado públicamente es que hubo códigos y registros fotográficos. Pero no hay una confirmación clara, verificable y pública de cuántos de esos cuerpos tienen una muestra genética preservada para ser comparada después con sus familiares. Y ese vacío de información es enorme.
Los protocolos internacionales son claros: los cadáveres de desastres naturales no suelen representar un riesgo sanitario general que justifique entierros apresurados sin identificación.

Darisbel Quintero Morillo and her husband Gilbert were living in Dallas and hoping to start a family. Darisbel learned that she was pregnant after she had been detained and locked away in an ICE prison.

She began experiencing bleeding and went to the hospital. She learned that she miscarried. As she was grieving the loss, ICE chained her to her hospital bed.

According to ICE’s own policies, she should never have been locked away while pregnant. What should have been a joyous time for her family became a nightmare under the Trump Administration’s cruel mass deportation machine. It is shameful.
