George's son, David Farragut (1801-1870), served as the US Navy's first rear admiral, vice admiral, and admiral. He is famously remembered for giving the order at the Battle of Mobile Bay during the US Civil War, "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead"!

Happy July 4th! Today we honor Jordi "George" Farragut Mesquida (1755-1817), born in Ciutadella de Menorca under British occupation, he fought during the American Revolutionary War with the Continental Army in battles in the South.
