In Malawi, food shortages are putting thousands of young children at risk of malnutrition. Through local health clinics and government partners, CRS is providing nutrition treatment, screenings and counseling. Since February, 13,000+ children enrolled and 4,400+ recovered.
Sunday, 27 September, marks the World Day of Migrants and Refugees. My thoughts go out to migrants and refugees, especially minors compelled to leave their homeland. Children and teenagers are the most vulnerable. They often endure unspeakable suffering, violence, torture, exploitation, and traumatic conditions. It is not uncommon for them to lose their lives along migration routes. I appeal to everyone’s sense of responsibility: may we all feel a sense of involvement in the lives of these young people, who must always be protected and supported.

Thanks to the extraordinary efforts of Catholic Relief Services and Caritas Nepal, life-saving assistance from the United States continues to reach Nepali families and children in severely affected areas in the Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts. These images are from September 5 in Nuwakot and September 7 in Rasuwa.
The United States is closely coordinating with the Government of Nepal and numerous partners to deliver more than $4 million of assistance that matches Nepal’s needs and helps affected communities.
