@EU_Commission MUST TAKE A POSITION ON THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS IN ROMANIA. EITHER MR. GEORGESCU @CG_Romania IS RIGHT OR THE ROMANIAN AUTHORITIES ARE RIGHT. IF THE COMMISSION REMAINS SILENT, AS IT DID IN CASE OF SLOVAKIA IN 2020-2023, IT WILL PUT ANOTHER NAIL IN THE COFFIN OF THE UNTRUSTWORTHINESS OF THE ENTIRE EU.

I follow the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries. As the government wanted to put me in prison without any reason in 2020-2023 as the leader of the opposition, so that I could not do politics, I am very sensitive to similar cases. The EC at that time and the relevant Commissioners (especially Commissioner Reynders) did not give a damn about Slovakia. They had an obedientgovernment, and nobody cared about the rights of the leader of the opposition and the nature of democracy in Slovakia.

In Romania, after Mr. Georgescu, a supposedly right-wing and pro-Russian candidate, shockingly won the first round of the presidential elections, the Constitutional Court decided to annul them. The candidate was accused of various criminal offences and was banned from standing again by the electoral commission. Georgescu appealed to the Constitutional Court, but probably without a chance of success.
I do not know where the truth lies. But I do know that if the EU wants to save face, it should ask what is going on. Whenwe wanted to pass an amendment to the Criminal Code in this country, the EC went into a frenzy of activity. 

In Romania, it is suspected that this is a similar case to ours, and everyone is silent. Just because a presidential candidate has a differing opinion from the obligatory one, does he need to be removed?  This is more than a national issue. This is about democracy and the face of the EU.

The EC must take a position on the presidential elections in Romania. And take responsibility for it. If Mr. Georgescu is being wronged simply because he has a different opinion, he must be given European protection. If the EC is convinced that the Romanian authorities are doing the right thing, it must stand up for them. The only thing the EC cannot do is to remain silent. Otherwise, a dangerous precedent is being set,where, in a free democratic competition, it will be possible to remove a successful candidate simply because he is not in linedue to his differing opinions.
