Fellow Ugandans, especially the Bazzukulu and other well-wishers beyond Uganda.
I have seen the millions of messages congratulating me on my 82nd birthday, led by my nuclear family members—Maama, Muhoozi, Natasha, Patience, Kyaremeera and those of my wider family of the NRM, the other Ugandans, the East Africans and those beyond East Africa. Thank you so much.
My social-media handler, Precious Kamwiine, told me that there were 8 million such messages. I thank God for the 82 years. I thank God for the peace in Uganda and the progress—agriculture, oil, other minerals, factories, etc. The present unreliable rains are a reminder that we should not take nature for granted. Those in the wetlands or forests or other protected areas, must get out so that we keep the treasure God gave us.
I was pleased today to join the Big Fix Holy Spirit Global Conference at Miracle Centre Cathedral, hosted by Pastor Robert Kayanja and Pastor Jessica Kayanja.
I thank Pastor Kayanja and Pastor Jessica for building such a rich international network, bringing together people from Uganda, Africa and beyond to share ideas, build relationships and strengthen one another.
I commend Pastor Kayanja for using his ministry not only to preach, but also to promote production, wealth creation and community empowerment, particularly through his agricultural work in Karamoja and Kiryandongo.
I was also happy to hear the call for African and East African integration. This is music to my ears because a united African market is critical for our producers and for the prosperity of our people.
I am also glad that the pastors have formed a SACCO. I have pledged Shs2 billion to support this initiative because we must encourage our people to work together, produce and create wealth.
This afternoon, I received the outgoing High Commissioner of India to Uganda, H.E. Upender Singh Rawat, at State House Entebbe.
We discussed strengthening Uganda-India cooperation in science, technology and digital transformation, including the National Payment Switch and technology transfer. I was also pleased with the progress of the National Forensic Sciences University in Jinja, established through our cooperation with India.
I wish him well as he concludes his tour of duty and thank him for his contribution to strengthening the friendship between Uganda and India.
Yesterday, we (K&K Advocates) celebrated our 25th anniversary with the precious children of UWESO Masuliita Children's Village. We handed over a refurbished dining and kitchen with eco-stoves that bring a 90% reduction in energy cost. 1/2
My sincere apology to Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba @mkainerugaba regarding a video that unscrupulous people maliciously edited and put your name! I can NEVER attack you my Brother! Heshima👍For those who seek to sow dicord, Proverbs Chapter 6:19 says "The Lord detests a false witness"
MUSEVENI AT 82 | Vice President H.E. @jessica_alupo represented President @KagutaMuseveni at the celebrations marking his 82nd birthday at Kololo Independence Grounds.
Thank you, My Chairman and My next President, for your continued trust and confidence. It is an honour to serve alongside you. Together, we shall deliver exceptionally.
PLU Central Committee members, led by Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, National Vice Chairman Michael Toyota Nuwagira, General Secretary Twalla Fadil, Deputy Director of Mobilisation Owek. Henry Basaliza, Hon. Minister @FrankTumwebazek , Mr. Kwame Ruyondo, and former Minister @KabbyangaB , have joined the host, Hon. Minister Jim Muhwezi, former Minister Sam Kutesa, Hon. Minister Lydia Wanyoto, Ambassador Fred Mwesigye, Commissioner General of Prisons @jbyabs, Gen. David Kasura Kyomukama, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Members of Parliament, and other senior government officials to officially launch the endorsement books.
This marks the first endorsement book launch in the Kigezi Region, through which supporters are endorsing Gen. @mkainerugaba for President in 2031.
The launch was also attended by Patriotic Officers who were present at the event.
Today, I joined Hon. @jkmuhwezi, his family, colleagues from government, and @PLUsecretariat for his thanksgiving ceremony at Kasoroza Playgrounds in Rujumbura, Rukungiri.
The event also served as a fundraiser for the construction of St. John's Kasoroza Church of Uganda. I represented H.E. @KagutaMuseveni and delivered his message to the people of Rukungiri District.
The President thanked the people of Rukungiri for voting for Hon. Jim Muhwezi and @NRMOnline in the general elections. He also thanked them for renewing their trust in Gen. Jim, who has served Uganda from the bush war up to today.
The President said people like Gen. Jim exemplify the sacrifice made by many Ugandans during the bush war, when they went to fight without knowing whether they would emerge victorious and return to live in a peaceful country.
While the bush war is a story of the past, the President challenged us as leaders to be at the forefront of fighting the current war against poverty. Poverty is a household battle, but when households in a community work together, supported by good leadership, it can be defeated.
As a neighbour to Rukungiri District, I pledged to work with Hon. Jim and other leaders in the district to do whatever we can to fight poverty and extend services to the people.
I thank Hon. Jim for his distinguished service to this country over the past five decades. He is still with us, acting as a bridge between the past, present and the future. We thank him for embracing @PLUsecretariat , which represents the future. At today’s event, the PLU team by our National Vice Chairperson @chairtoyota, GS @HonTwallafadil, CEC members and other great patriots also launched the collection of signatures for the endorsement of @mkainerugaba’s 2031 presidential candidature in the Kigezi sub-region. We are glad that we have a leader who is ready to take on the mantle and build on the strong foundation laid by the NRM. The very warm reception and endorsement from the people of Rukungiri is a clear indication that come 2031, @mkainerugaba will win with a landslide once he is on the ballot paper.
